Adam Sandler has been gracing screens both big and small for as long as we can remember (35+ years!!), so to say he's proven himself as an actor in Tinseltown is a serious understatement. Those years of hard work have definitely paid off, and his paychecks have delivered truly massive amounts of money. Because I know you're a fellow snoop, let's dig into all the deets of Adam's impressive net worth, shall we? We shall!

But first...some background

Adam's career trajectory is iconic for many reasons, one of them simply being how long he's been in the game. The comedian first began performing standup in New England when he was just 17 years old—aka, like, way before he could legally sip on the classic two-minimum drinks required at most comedy clubs.

Soon after, Adam moved to New York City to attend New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. While studying there, he finally got his foot in the door and, while he continued to do standup, landed his first on-screen role as one of Theo Huxtable's friends on season 4 of The Cosby Show in 1987.

After graduating in 1988, Adam landed yet another noteworthy gig as a writer and performer on MTV's Remote Control and then made his feature film debut the following year as a struggling cruise ship comedian in Going Overboard. But it was later when Adam caught the attention of Saturday Night Live star Dennis Miller during one of his standup performances that he catapulted to stardom. The comedian was introduced to SNL creator and producer Lorne Michaels and was hired to write for the hit show in 1990, joining as an official SNL cast member in 1991.

Throughout his time on the series, Adam was widely popular and even delivered one of SNL's most iconic performances during a holiday specials in 1994:

But in 1995, both Adam and his cast-mate, the late Chris Farley, were fired from the show. The news was unexpected and went unexplained by producers, but, luckily, that was only the beginning of the comedian's career since he now had more time to dive into other projects.

P.S. He talked about his exit when he was invited back to host the show in 2019:

Adam has many, many movie credits

IMDb should pay Adam at this point, because of the transparent number of credits under his belt (86, JFYI). But even if the site doesn't Venmo him, the actor is getting tons of $$$ elsewhere because clearly it pays to be funny. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Adam starred in over 50 (!!) "major studio releases" after he left Saturday Night Live *and* he's earned at least $20 million for roughly 20 of those films, which is $400 million in pre-tax earnings alone. Casual! Here are some of the actor's ~highlights~ so we can all feel bad about our own bank accounts just for funsies:

  • 1995: He starred in the iconic film Billy Madison, which made $26 million on a $10 million budget.

  • 1996: The sports comedy Happy Gilmore was released and brought in $41 million on a $12 million budget. Plus, it reportedly earned Adam a $2 million salary.

  • 1998: The Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler rom-com The Wedding Singer raked in $123 million on an $18 million budget and became an all-time classic for oooobvious reasons. 🥺❤️

  • Also in 1998: The Waterboy, a film that offered Adam the opportunity to both star in *and* executive-produce, made $190 million on a $23 million budget.

  • 1999: Big Daddy, the Sprouse twin-starring project, earned a whopping $235 million on a $34 million budget.

  • 2004: I thank my lucky stars every single day that Adam and Drew are BFFs because they not only gave us The Wedding Singer but also blessed us with 50 First Dates, which brought in $199 million on a $75 million budget.

  • 2011: One of my personal faves, Just Go With It, grossed $215 million on an $80 million budget. Also, let's take a moment of silence for the movie's all-star cast, which features Jennifer Aniston, Brooklyn Decker, Bailee Madison, and Nicole Kidman!

  • 2010 and 2013: Grown Ups, which debuted in 2010, earned a whopping $271 million on an $80 million budget—a success that resulted in a 2013 sequel, Grown Ups 2, which took home $247 million on an $80 million budget. Fun fact: Though the details of Adam's salary for the movies aren't publicly known, he did made enough to be able to afford each of his fellow main cast-mates (Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock, and Rob Schneider) $200,000 Maserati cars, per the Hollywood Reporter.

  • 2019: Uncut Gems, which was created alongside the Safdie brothers, raked in $50 million on a $19 million budget and earned Adam tons of praise, including an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead for his role as gambler Howard Ratner.

  • 2020: Hubie Halloween, which was a part of one of the comedian's Netflix deals (more on that later!), was the company's most-streamed movie of 2020.

  • 2012, 2018, 2015, 2022: One of the franchises that has become a M-A-S-S-I-V-E juggernaut for Adam is the Hotel Transylvania series, which has brought in $358 million, $474 million, $528 million, and $18.5 million at the global box office.

Adam's studio and streamer deals are jaw-dropping

After his success with Big Daddy, Adam went on to sign a lucrative deal with Sony Pictures that landed him a base salary of $20 million per movie in addition to 20-25 percent of each project's gross profits, according to Celebrity Net Worth. However, his deal with the movie studio is far from his only big home run. In 2014, the actor signed a four-film, $250 million production deal with Netflix, which was then renewed for an additional four movies in 2017 and then yet again extended in January 2020 with the same parameters, per the outlet.

Just some of the movies the collaboration with the streamer has resulted in? The Ridiculous 6, The Week Of, the Murder Mystery movies, Hustle, and, more recently, the hugely popular movie staring all three members of Adam's family, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.

His real estate portfolio is elite

In 2004 he coughed up $13 million for a sprawling mansion in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles that was previously not-so-casually owned by Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn.

Then in 2001, the actor spent $3.1 million on a 3-bedroom, beachfront home in Malibu...but that's far from the only California property he has. Others include a condo in West Hollywood's Sierra Towers building, a home in Brentwood, and yet another in Calabasas, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Additionally, in October 2022, Adam paid a whopping $4.1 million for another abode in the Pacific Palisades. Must! Be! Nice!

So what is Adam Sandler's net worth?

Oh, ya know, just a cool $440 million buckaroonies, aka nearly half a billion dollars. Meanwhile, I have half a sandwich and a few knock-knock jokes to my name. 😬
