Adam Rippon Is an Olympic Hair God

Adam Rippon has received a lot of attention during the PyeongChang Olympic Games for more than just his performance on the ice (which, in case you haven't been watching the competitions, is transporting and will make you want to low-key become a professional ice skater). His outspokenness (Rippon is the first-ever openly gay athlete on the U.S. Winter Olympic team, and not afraid to stoke beef with the Vice President) and sense of humor have also made him one of the big stars of this year's games. And then there is the matter of his looks. From his perfectly sculpted eyebrows to his impressively strong glutes, fans cannot stop gushing about Rippon's various, um, assets. Before the 2018 Games officially wrap, we'd also like to shoutout Rippon's excellent hair—which, unlike his twelve-pack, is something every guy can make his own if he so chooses.

We've talked a lot over the last year about hair trends moving away from the high-and-tight fade, but Rippon is proof that the cut is far from over. Not only does it look damn cool on him, but it's also a practical choice because it's virtually impossible to mess up. No matter how many double axels Rippon takes, or how freezing cold it gets the arena, the man always looks like he just stepped out of the barber shop. If you have a sweaty or generally on-the-go job, this resiliency of this cut makes it a great choice for you, too. You may not finish the day with an emotional bow, but you can roll up to happy hour straight from the office and look like you're holding it together.

If having an unmovable haircut isn't important to you, or you've simply been there and done that with the fade, Rippon can still be your hair god. The 28-year-old has tried on a handful of bold styles and colors since he began competing in the big leagues and, while they don't all hold up quite as well as the fade after an intense routine, each one has its own merits.

If nothing else, this spectrum of looks is proof that, in skating and grooming, practice makes perfect. A haircut that warrants applause doesn't just land in your lap.
