Adam Pally Absolutely Trashed the Marketing Award He Was Presenting

He eventually had to be escorted off the Shorty Awards stage.

Adam Pally made a guest appearance at the Shorty Awards on Sunday night. The "Shortys", for the uninitiated, is an awards show "recognizing the people and organizations that produce real-time short form content across Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Instagram and the rest of the social web." Sounds bad! Adam Pally agrees with you. Pally was presenting the award for Best Overall Instagram. Early in his speech, Pally says "I think a career highlight will be when I'm done" and it only gets worse from there. Watch his glorious, nearly 11-minute rant against this room full of marketers below (start at the 1:34:00 mark).

Where to even begin? This is undoubtedly Pally's best role since Happy Endings. His eyes would be dead if they weren't ablaze with scorn for everyone involved in this travesty. "Considering how many brands are putting all their resources into Instagram, it's wildly impressive," Pally says, reading from his cue card, "... is it? If you want me to host again next year, HARD PASS." The crowd laughs and "woo"s sporadically throughout, not knowing what else to do. I have never been more mortified or more delighted than when he announces the winner as "Content is King Hashtag GoPro" and a poor team of bewildered marketers (GoPro selfie stick in hand, naturally) take to the stage.

It's not over yet, though. After Content is King Hastag GoPro's speech, Pally's back on the mic, this time introducing a painful "in memoriam" of now-defunct brands. At this point, he's more than checked-out, and a straight-up terrified woman is thrust onto the stage to end the bit and escort Pally offstage.
