Warning: Love Is Blind Season 6 spoilers ahead. As one of the first couples to get engaged in The Pods, it’s understandable why so many fans want to know whether AD and Clay are still together from Love Is Blind Season 6 and what’s happened since filming ended. After their drama with Matthew (more on that later), AD and Clay had plenty to talk about once they returned to the real world.
Amber Desiree “AD” Smith and Clay Gravesande are one of five couples who got engaged in The Pods on Love Is Blind Season 6—sight unseen. Love Is Blind, which first premiered on Netflix in February 2020, follows around 30 men and women over the course of a couple weeks as they speed-date in “Pods,” where they can talk to each other but not see each other. During the 10 days, the couples can decide if they want to get engaged—still sight unseen. After the proposal, the couples meet face-to-face for the first time and go on vacation at a resort in Mexico, where they learn more about each other and meet the other couples. After the trip, the couples, who all live in the same city, return to the real world and move into an apartment together as they meet each other’s families and friends and prepare for their weddings. At the altar on their wedding days, the couples must decide whether to marry or break up as they answer the age-old question of if love can be truly blind.

Since the premiere of Love Is Blind, the show has become one of Netflix’s highest-rated series, with more than 30 million views in its first two months. “Across the world, everybody feels the same way: Everyone wants to be loved for who they are on the inside. It doesn’t matter where you live, what you look like, how old you are, what your background is, which class you know, or social structure you feel like you’re a part of, everyone wants to be loved for who they are,” creator Chris Coelen told Variety in 2020. “In today’s society we’ve got all these ways to find love through dating apps and technology. Those things sort of counterintuitively have made people feel disposable. They’ve made people feel like it’s all surface level. It does the opposite thing it was supposed to do. So we thought, what if we took everybody’s devices away, how could we get them to focus on connecting with other people?”

Asking really surface level questions about her physical appearance in the pods is an automatic turnoff for Amber. Instead, she’s looking for that forever type of love that stems from a “soul connection,” as she’s wasted enough time on men who haven’t been ready to commit. “Timing just has not been on my side,” she says. “I’ve always been ready, and then I meet people who are either halfway ready, or lie to me.” Amber’s ideal guy is “empathetic, smart, masculine, and just an overall good person,” who can handle her tendency to be a bit pushy at times. The former New England Patriots cheerleader is also looking for someone to join her for morning workouts in the gym, where she can be found four times a week. Adaptability is at the top of Clay’s list when it comes to qualities he’s looking for in a partner. “[Relationships] are a roller coaster and I need somebody who’s going to stay with me through the test of time,” he shares. Cleanliness also ranks fairly high, as Clay has no patience for bad hygiene. “If you’re smelling bad, I’m going to tell you,” he says. However, he’s also working on his overly blunt delivery, which he says has been a point of contention in past relationships. But, at the end of the day, Clay won’t compromise on being himself, as he’s searching for a soulmate who isn’t looking to change him…or his self-admitted “huge ego,” which he knows could annoy his potential wife. Before their engagement, AD and Clay were involved in a love triangle with Matthew Duliba, another contestant on Love Is Blind Season 6, who AD broke up with before she chose Clay. So are AD and Clay still together from Love Is Blind Season 6? When asked about whether they were still together in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Clay jokingly responded, “TBD.” AD, for her part, teased, “I would say you would have to wait and see.”As for why she chose Clay over Matthew, AD told Entertainment Tonight, “When he was able to let go of the player and that weird energy, I was like, ‘OK, I can let him in a little bit more.’”
As of writing this, both AD and Clay still follow each other on Instagram, so they seem to be on good terms. In an interview with Us Weekly in February 2024, AD called Clay a “walking red flag,” especially after asking about her looks. “Oh my gosh, Clay is a walking red flag,” she said. “I mean, from the moment I met him, it was [like] ‘red flag, red flag.’” She continued, “When he wanted to know about the physical and what I looked like, I think that was very telling and a huge red flag.” AD also revealed that she and Matthew talked after The Pods following their drama. “Matthew and I had a few conversations post-pods and he apologized,” she said. “He said his piece, I said mine, and we moved on.”
Unlike past cities Love Is Blind has filmed in, such as Houston in Season 5 and Seattle in Season 4, marriage records for Charlotte, North Carolina—where Season 6 filmed—are not publicly available, so there isn’t a way to obtain AD and Clay’s marriage records to confirm whether they’re still together.
