There Was an Actual Trash Fire at the Emmys, Which, Yeah, Sounds About Right
Jennifer Aniston had to put out a literal trash fire at the 2020 Emmys.
Twitter has…thoughts.
For reasons that remain confusing, someone working on the 2020 Emmys team thought it would be a good idea for Jimmy Kimmel to spray Lysol all over an awards envelope, shove it into a trash can, and light it on fire. Which is…a CHOICE considering the fires currently happening on the West Coast, but okay, sure!
Jennifer Aniston putting out a fire that won’t knock down on live TV is the best thing I’ve seen this year. #Emmys pic.twitter.com/JhuYZ9dFMj

Anyway, poor Jennifer Aniston was tasked with grabbing a fire extinguisher on live TV and trying to put out the fire. What could possibly go wrong?!?!? Turns out a lot—for a moment there, I truly thought this entire awards show was going to go down in flames much like this year, but fortunately, Jen Aniston managed to extinguish the fire after several tries. And now everyone on Twitter is confused and/or making the exact same joke:
Jennifer Aniston being unable to extinguish a fire at the #Emmys is the perfect way to sum up the 2020 awards season.

My favorite #Emmy moment so far is Jennifer Aniston having to try three times to put out a fire onstage.

Not sure who green lit the fire bit 😬 #Emmys

The lighting the awards letters on fire was probably a bad idea. #Emmys pic.twitter.com/GqEALX2RXj

The #Emmys fire that won't die is very symbolic of this year pic.twitter.com/ykZCMrWFiY
