Actress Reese Witherspoon Asks Fans to Find Her Dog Doppelganger

Reese Witherspoon has all of us asking 'If I were a dog, what dog breed would I be?' On Monday the 47-year-old actress asked her Instagram followers 'Which dog am I?" and this is a pretty fun game to play, even if you aren't a gorgeous, talented, multi-million dollar Hollywood A-lister.

She also said that 'Dog lookalike submissions are open.'

In the above clip Witherspoon said "I think I'm a Yorkie. Or, you know what I'm not? I'm not a Rottweiler. I'm not a Doberman Pinscher." She also said that she "could be a Golden Retriever."

She also added, "If somebody out there has a dog that looks like me, I will come meet your dog. Oh I will. But, I've got to agree, send me a picture. I will come meet your dog. I'm talking like a Yorkie. I'm talking like a mini Dachshund, one of the golden ones."

She hilariously added, "But you're also going to need to change the name of your dog to Reese Witherspoon!"

The Westminster Kennel Club replied, "To us - you’re a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Just like the beloved breed, you’re elegant, outgoing, lovable and bold." Awwww, find you someone who thinks of you like the Westminster Kennel Club thinks of Reese Witherspoon!

Why Some Dogs Look Like Their Owners

We've all seen some long-term married couples who start to resemble each other, and the same can sometimes be said for dog owners who start to resemble their beloved fur babies.

There's something called 'selective bias' where people sometimes seek out dogs to add to their family that actually share some of their same physical attributes or behavior traits. In 2015, the BBC reported that "women with long hair are more likely to prefer dogs with long, floppy ears, and heavier people tend to have fatter dogs."

The article also states that, "Maybe this is all due to the allure of familiarity: a dog may seem more comforting if it resembles the other members of our family, who we know and love. Yet some psychologists believe it might be a spill over from the way we evolved to find mates: dating someone that looks like us may ensure that their genes are generally compatible with our own."

Some of this dog look-alike syndrome could also stem from the fact that people and their dogs often engage in similar activities, and even consume similar diets. Over time, these shared experiences might contribute to a perceived physical resemblance. If you adore the color pink, you may dress your dog in a pink color or sweater. If you are a muscle-bound tough guy, you may choose a spiked collar for your pup.

Now I just need to adopt a dog that badly needs a root-job and has a tendency to wear leggings covered in cat hair. I know my twin is out there somewhere!
