The first season of the highly anticipated Netflix series Wednesday has finally debuted on the streaming platform. And now, everyone is talking about Wednesday Addams (played by the ever-so-talented Jenna Ortega) and her dark, sinister charm.

There are many memorable moments from the show, but one that really stands out to fans is the infamous dance scene. You know, when Wednesday shows off her best moves at the Nevermore Academy school dance.

In the viral clip, Wednesday is wearing a black gown on the dance floor alongside Tyler (Hunter Doohan). When the song “Goo Goo Muck” by The Cramps starts to play, Wednesday performs an iconic dance number that now lives in our heads rent-free.

On Twitter, Ortega revealed that she choreographed the entire dance herself and that she was inspired by some famous icons. Alongside a clip of the dance scene, the actress wrote, “Thanks to Siouxsie Sioux, Bob Fosse’s Rich Man’s Frug, Lisa Loring, Lene Lovich, Denis Lavant, and archival footage of goths dancing in clubs in the 80’s. Helped me out on this one.”

In an interview with Netflix, the Scream star explained that she felt really anxious about the dance scene. “I actually felt really insecure about this. I choreographed that myself,” she said. “And I think it’s very obvious that I’m not a dancer or choreographer.” Like the rest of us, her fellow co-star Emma Myers called it her “favorite” scene in the show.

Jenna, you definitely understood the assignment.
