According to Virginia DJ, equestrian center next to event venue deliberately makes noise to 'ruin weddings'

Many people have fantasized about their wedding day since they were little: what they’d wear, the perfect song for their first dance, who would stand by their side, the officiant yelling over the buzz of a weed whacker — wait, scratch that last one.

According to Kidd Carter, the president of Blue Ridge Entertainment and a frequent DJ at weddings taking place at Triple J Farm Events in Catawba, Va., a neighboring equestrian center is intentionally disrupting ceremonies.

“Every time it’s the same. Right before the ceremony starts there’s a bunch of noise that happens across the street. Whether it be a trimmer, a tractor, a mower, a bush hog, whatever it is to disrupt these folks’ ceremonies,” Carter told WFXR.

According to the owner of Catawba Equestrian Center, Deborah Caldwell-Bono, their practices have not changed in 16 years, and the noise isn’t intentional.

“Our farming practice has not changed. And unfortunately for them, Saturday afternoon is when they have chosen to have these events right where we do the majority of our work most of the time. So, is there an inherent conflict in that? Yea. Is it our fault? No,” said Caldwell-Bono.

Caldwell-Bono also claims that the event venue is guilty of noise violations, and she’s not the only neighbor who has complained. “The walls inside of neighbors’ homes reverberate from the pounding of the music up until 10 pm. Triple J has ignored their pleas as well as ours. These are good hard working neighbors who can no longer have peace and quiet on Sat nights,” a statement reads on the Catawba Equestrian Center’s Facebook page.

Triple J Farm Events released the following statement: “Triple J Farm Events has been advised not to comment because of ongoing litigations, but would like to apologize for any stress this has caused any future brides. I promise your wedding day will be beautiful and perfect. No bride has ever left unhappy.”

Caldwell-Bono is hopeful that the two businesses÷ will be able to coexist in harmony, and she says she is willing to work with Triple J Farm Events to work out a deal.
