Accessorize Your Candy: Cute Halloween Gear
By Louise Hart
I know Halloween is supposed to be scary and ghastly, but blame it on the hormones, I’m more interested in adorable Halloween accessories this year. I grew up in the South and so all of my friends had super crafty trick or treat bags their moms made; I was given a pillowcase slipcover to carry candy in. (And no, it wasn’t a cute ghost pillow case à la Martha Stewart.) I am determined my children won’t suffer the same ignominy I did.
Here are a few adorable treat bags I found:
From Pottery Barn Kids, a personalize-able cat felt tote treat bag ($13).
Also from Pottery Barn Kids, a spaceship, superhero, firetruck, and pilot treat bags ($13 each).
From Etsy, a bat “candy monster” treat bag ($19.50).
Also from Etsy, a monogrammed tote ($14). (I can’t help it. I’m a sucker for monograms.)

Last, but not least, if your child is planning on hauling in a serious amount of candy, a basket (also from Etsy, $26) might be best.
Whether you have children or not, Halloween is the perfect time for adding a festive spin to your tablescape. I recommend throwing a full-blown party with a few of these Epi recipes and the products below.
This platter from Pottery Barn looks chic and ghoulish ($79).
Serve Mother’s Ruin punch in this skull punch bowl from Williams Sonoma ($48).
Try the El Chupacabra Martini in one of these skeleton hand martini glasses from Pottery Barn ($24.50 each).
No martini would be complete without black rimming sugar from Crate & Barrel ($9).
Sip cocktails—or mocktails—with these raven straws from Crate & Barrel ($6 for 24).
If you’re going to a friend’s house for dinner or a party, be sure to bring a bottle of wine in this spider burlap bag from Etsy ($6).
Or a bone corkscrew from Williams Sonoma ($11).
If you don’t have the time or energy for a Halloween fête, add a few of these scary accessories will set the haunted mood at home.
Hopefully the Grim Reaper won’t be able to identify who’s who thanks to these Pottery Barn skull and bones placecards ($24.50).

From Crate and Barrel, this hoot placemat and black or orange napkin will please kids and adults (from $4).
Serve salad or dessert on these appetizer-sized Halloween plates from Williams Sonoma ($28 for four).
Last, but not least, these owl salt and pepper shakers from Pottery Barn would look perfect on the table ($34.50).
