Abilene Gives: The National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature

For 26 years, the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature (NCCIL) has celebrated children, art, and literature. A unique partnership with award-winning artists brings together distinctive, high-quality exhibitions that appeal to visitors of all ages.

Located in Abilene, Texas, the NCCIL is nationally recognized for making children’s picture book art accessible to hundreds of thousands of people through a traveling exhibit program. Museums, public libraries, and galleries throughout the United States display art curated by the NCCIL.

Locally, educational programming is designed to stimulate creativity, promote literacy, increase appreciation for the arts, and give space for families to connect without any financial barrier. All of this and more is possible because of the generosity of those who believe in the power of children’s picture book art.
