Abercrombie & Fitch Relocates Fifth Avenue Store in NYC

Abercrombie & Fitch cut the ribbon to its new store in New York City last week.

Located at 668 Fifth Avenue between 52nd and 53rd streets, the new store is in the same tourist-heavy area just three blocks north of its original flagship that opened nearly 20 years ago. Sister brand Hollister formerly occupied the space.

The multi-level store offers the lifestyle brand’s women’s and men’s collections as well as a dedicated shop-in-shop for Abercrombie Kids. It also features a shop-in-shop for YPB (Your Personal Best), the adult activewear brand Abercrombie launched in 2022.

The store design mirrors the elevated aesthetic of recent Abercrombie & Fitch collections.

Inside, the store boasts illuminated walls, sconced columns, and city-centric photography. Intimate spaces are carved out throughout, enhanced with greenery and textured walls. The storefront features slate details unique to the location.

It is also equipped with several omnichannel capabilities like touch screens to “seamlessly connect customers’ digital and in-person shopping experiences,” the brand stated.

In May, parent company Abercrombie & Fitch Co. reported 14 percent net sales growth in Q1, its highest first-quarter sales in more than a decade. Fran Horowitz, Abercrombie & Fitch Co. CEO, credited part of Abercrombie’s success to its evolution beyond just a jeans and T-shirt brand and into a destination for workwear and special occasions.

At the time of the call, the company said it planned to open as many as 40 new stores, close up to 25, and remodel about 15.

Horowitz said the new Fifth Avenue store is a “celebration of the evolution and strength of the Abercrombie brand.”

“We are thrilled to offer our customers in New York City a new, immersive shopping experience that represents the absolute best of Abercrombie,” she said. “This city has a storied place in our company’s history, where we opened our first store, and we’re proud to be here nearly 130 years later.”
