“When we first stepped into the apartment, my eye immediately went to the chrome fireplace, which you can see in your line of sight upon entering the unit. The design of the fireplace is modern and chic and fits perfectly with my design aesthetic,” admits the stylish Abby Silverman, who is the digital creative director at Cosmopolitan magazine.

Silverman, who shares her home with her husband, Ben Wolfson, and their dog, explains that she’s always been attracted to the open-plan vibes and high ceilings of loft-style apartments. “This space immediately checked those two boxes,” she explains. “I also really liked the open-kitchen concept; the design again is super innovative and high-tech, yet simple at the same time. The cozy little dining nook also stole my heart with the cutest built-in bench.”

“And of course the light in this apartment is truly amazing, which makes such a big difference,” Silverman continues. “The building is also home to numerous talented creatives, including photographers and filmmakers. The prospect of being surrounded by like-minded people was a fun added layer of inspiration and charm to this already amazing apartment.”

When it comes to Silverman’s own personal style (which you can see more of on her TikTok), she uses words like “maximalist, creative, chic, colorful, and daring.” When it comes to her home, she says she gets inspiration from the worlds of fashion, art, and design. “Much like the way I approach fashion, when it comes to my interior style I enjoy blending both contemporary and vintage elements to add a unique flair and intrigue to my space,” she writes.

“I’m also very drawn to unconventional and statement decor with funky and sculptural shapes. I’m captivated by different materials, such as marble, onyx, chrome, gold, and travertine. I love mixing and matching the different materials to create interest and dimension. In essence, I often approach interior design as an extension of fashion, where the home becomes a canvas for self-expression and creativity!”

“As for those who share my living space — my husband, Ben, and our puppy, Penny Lane the mini-sheepadoodle — they are essentially along for the ride (for example, Penny’s dog toy bin definitely fits the aesthetic whether she likes it or not),” Silverman admits. “My husband goes with the flow when it comes to design and we usually agree when I find a new obsession that I think would be a great addition to our apartment!”
