Abby Lee Miller Cut GiaNina's Snooki-Themed Dance Moments Before the Competition

Abby Lee giveth and Abby Lee taketh away. After the Dance Moms coach kicked Brady off the team, the moms should have been aware that Abby means what she says. Not only is everyone replaceable, but not everyone gets to dance either. GiaNina had her Snooki solo pulled on Dance Moms after her mom Joanne wouldn't stop complaining about the dance's content and costume.

At the beginning of the week, Abby informed GiaNina that she was giving her a Jersey Shore-themed jazz solo where she would play Snooki. Abby joked that GiaNina's mom could help with the character because they're from the Jersey Shore. "I'm not from that part of New Jersey," Joanne later griped. She had an issue from the getgo with the dance for a multitude of reasons. For one, Joanne said her daughter was from the "upper echelon" and she didn't want her playing reality star Snooki even in a dance. Joanne also thought the choreography was talent show level and too comedic to take seriously. But things really went off the rails when Abby pulled out fluffy slippers for the costume moments before GiaNina went on stage.

Snooki was known for her outrageous slippers on Jersey Shore. She now even sells slippers in her online store. But Joanne was not about to have her daughter go on stage in a leopard dress with a hair poof and slippers. The slippers were the final straw for GiaNina's mom. So Abby gave her an ultimatum — no slippers, no dance — and Joanne said, fine, no dance. She backtracked about a second later once she realized Abby was serious, but it was too late. Abby pulled the number, giving GiaNina a scratch at the competition. "Abby’s never gonna give me a solo again," GiaNina later worried, wishing that her mother had just stayed quiet. GiaNina was in costume and ready to go, but all that practice was for naught.

Many fans were upset that they didn't get to see the routine, which sounded like a fun chance for GiaNina to try her hand at a comical acting and dancing performance. "Disappointed we didn't see GiaNina dance this week! She would have looked great as @snooki!" tweeted Colin Brinkley. Another fan named Jen tweeted, "I wanted to see gianina as Snooki sooo bad I’m sure she would’ve been amazing too!"

Twitter user Pam Vazquez rightly pointed out that if GiaNina wants to be a professional dancer, she's going to need to be able to perform a variety of different styles. "Sometimes a character of a dance is supposed to be funny. GiaNina needs to be able to do any character. It's a job!" Vazquez tweeted.

Another viewer tweeted that she wanted to see how Snooki felt about Joanne being so opposed to a Snooki-themed dance for GiaNina. "Waiting for @snooki to start a Twitter war with GiaNina’s mom," Kristin tweeted.

For her part, GiaNina was also disappointed that she couldn't do the dance. But she seems to have gotten to a place of peace with Abby's decision now. She even gently poked fun at the costume choice on her Instagram Story on Tuesday night. She posted herself and two friends wearing fluffy, over-the-top slippers and tagged Abby in the photo. "Dance Moms ready!" she captioned the shot.
