William Stanford Davis, star of Abbott Elementary, has confirmed that the series will return for a fourth season.

Sharing the news via Instagram, he said, "So they had Mr Johnson cleaning up at the Langham .. yep they gave him another job as the announcer .. to let y'all know that we'll be back for Season 4 !! Oh happy day !!"

Season three just kicked off on February 7, but the show reaches millions of viewers and sits at a 99% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so it's no surprise that a fourth chapter has already got the green light.

From two-time Emmy-winner Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary is a workplace comedy about a group of dedicated teachers in a Philadelphia public school determined to help their students succeed.

As well as writing and executive producing the series, Brunson stars as Janine Teagues, joined by co-stars Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Chris Perfetti and William Stanford Davis.

New episodes of Abbott Elementary air on Wednesdays at 9 pm on ABC and are available to stream on Hulu the following day.
