Abandoned French Bulldog with Spinal Issues Needs a Home for the Holidays

It's pretty impossible to understand how anyone could just dump a poor defenseless animal in a box somewhere, but that's exactly where Esmerelda Sunflower's, an abandoned French Bulldog, story starts.

Esmeralda was found abandoned in a box in a park in Fort Worth, Texas. Someone found her and brought the little pup to the Humane Society of North Texas. When it was discovered she had severe spinal issues, Roadogs Rescue came to the well, rescue.

People magazine has an exclusive about the little Frenchie and the article says that Roadogs found Nikki Carvey explained , "Esmeralda is a Hot Mess Express, as one vet put it. She was born with severe congenital spine issues — probably because someone was trying to breed a mini Frenchie — but they got one with a jacked-up spine instead," Carvey says of the dog's physical condition. "There's not really anything surgical that can be done to fix her, so we'll try supportive care like physical therapy."

Why French Bulldogs bred by bad breeders are so irresponsible

Roadogs explains on their post, "This is what lies behind your mini Frenchies and ‘rare colour’ microbullies. Neglect, abuse and exploitation. It’s heartbreaking and frustrating that so many people just see these dogs as products to throwaway. And rescues like Roadogs are left cleaning up the pieces."

French Bullevard explains it further, "Some fad colors happen to be associated with health states, especially, blues with a state called color dilution alopecia this state is really common in blue dogs of each breed it is usually known as “Blue Dog Alopecia”. This state can lead to long-term skin inflammation and baldness. This inflammation may lead to harms, cracks and skin ruptures, making the dogs afflicted by it, prone to even, or Staph infections MRSA. In certain strains, blue dogs can suffer from an immune connected illness that may cause pups to expire inside the primary couple of weeks after arrival."

This is why it's so important for any person looking to obtain a French Bulldog to go to an ethical breeder, or better yet, visit your local shelter or an amazing rescue organization like Roadogs.

Despite her imperfect spine, we know beautiful Esmerelda will make the absolutely most perfect pet for the right family.
