AAFA Reveals Slate of Honorees for 2024 American Image Awards

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has revealed the honorees for its 2024 American Image Awards in New York.

The event, which will take place April 16 at Gotham Hall in New York, will be emceed by Segun Oduolowu, “Boston Globe Today” TV show host.

Lizanne Kindler, executive chair and chief executive officer of KnitWell Group, a collection of American specialty apparel brands including Ann Taylor, Haven Well Within, Lane Bryant, Loft and Talbots, will be named Person of the Year. She leads a company with 1,700 stores generating $4 billion in annual sales.

Carhartt Inc. the family-owned purveyor of workwear, will receive the award for Company of the Year, which will be accepted by Danilo Amoretty, senior vice president, supply chain product supply and operations.

Wes Gordon, creative director at Carolina Herrera, will be named Designer of the Year. Gordon has been in the role since 2018.

Pamela Coke-Hamilton, executive director, International Trade Centre, will take home the Global Vanguard award. Global Fashion Agenda, a nonprofit organization that fosters industry collaboration on sustainability in fashion, will receive the Eco-Steward Award. It will be accepted by Federica Marchionni, the company’s chief executive officer.

Allan Ellinger, senior managing partner, MMG Advisors, a 35-year-old investment banking advisory practice focused on the consumer product sector, will receive the Trailblazer award. He and his firm have been involved in hundreds of engagements including restructurings, sell-side and buy-side investment banking assignments. He is also the founder and former chairman of Fashion Delivers, which merged with K.I.D.S. in 2013 to form Delivering Good and which he chaired through 2018.

The CFDA Foundation will be the event’s long-standing charitable beneficiary.

“This year’s American Image Awards honorees have shepherded significant advancements throughout our industry — transforming the business through innovation and stewardship while accelerating traceability, transparency and technology across their U.S. and global operations. We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments and ambitions,” said Steve Lamar, president and CEO of the AAFA.
