A Woman Allegedly Found a Dead Rodent Sewn Into Her Zara Dress
In the latest disturbing lawsuit making waves on the Internet, a woman is suing fast-fashion retailer Zara because she allegedly found a dead rodent sewn into the hem of a black dress she purchased from the retailer’s Greenwich, Conn., store, according to the New York Daily News.
Cailey Fiesel bought the dress from the store last July but didn’t wear it until the following month. According to the Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit, Fiesel noticed a “disturbingly pungent odor,” on the dress, but didn’t discover the cause of this odor until later in the day.
“As the day went on, Fiesel started to notice what felt like a loose string from her dress rubbing against her leg,” the suit says. Upon investigating the “loose string,” the woman came to a startling realization.
“To her utter shock and disbelief, as she ran her hand over the hem of the dress, she felt an unusual bulge and suddenly realized that it was not a string that was rubbing against her leg but was instead a leg rubbing against her leg,” the court papers detail.
The lawsuit details that she immediately ran to the bathroom and discovered the source of discomfort was allegedly a dead rodent. Fiesel claims that she was afflicted with emotional distress from the ordeal and even developed a rash from wearing the dress that was diagnosed as “a rodent-born disease.”
Fiesel believes the Spanish retailer “breached its duty to exercise reasonable care in designing, manufacturing, inspecting, distributing, delivering, supplying, inspecting, and/or selling its products by negligently releasing into the marketplace a product that was defective by containing disease-causing rodents,” according to the suit. The young woman is suing for unspecified damages.
A spokesperson for Zara USA responded to the lawsuit: “Zara USA is aware of the suit, and we are investigating the matter further. Zara USA has stringent health and safety standards, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our products meet these rigorous requirements.”
