The London label Felder Felder has unveiled the dress that will take center stage at its London Fashion Week show — and it’s made out of cars.

The Carbon Dress is headlining the brand’s 10th anniversary eco-friendly collection, which is created entirely from sustainable fabrics and up-cycled materials.

Co-designers and twins Annette and Daniela Felder used a 100-percent sustainable carbon-fiber material usually used to build the bodies of BMW electric cars to craft the Space Age-looking gown, complete with silver shimmer and fluttering tassels.

Annette told the Huffington Post: “We were really surprised by it. It has such a nice feel to it — it’s soft, like hair, and has a sharp shine, so looks quite slinky. The material is perfect for our aesthetic — elegant, with a rock ’n’ roll edge.”

The sisters were inspired to go green with their designs after seeing the fast-fashion documentary True Cost, which shows the troubling side effects of our affair with short-lived, throwaway style.

Annette hopes to start a trend in the industry, encouraging other designers and retailers to embrace sustainable materials and production methods.

She said: “We have a lot of young girls following our brand. If we can get them to think about fashion in a more conscious way, we would be thrilled and grateful to have made an impact.”
