Yahoo Beauty would like to introduce you to The New-New, a column by Beauty Director Dana Oliver on the newest products, tools, and treatments that she’d happily spend her hard-earned money on.

Ask any woman with natural hair what one of her biggest styling gripes is and she’ll probably say finding a product that won’t give you crunchy curls.

I’ve had moments when I’ve applied a natural-hair product to my tight coils, only for it to make them feel hard before I’ve gotten halfway around my head. And I won’t even rant about the countless mornings I’ve spent at the bathroom mirror picking out flakes from buildup.

Well, thank the beauty gods for Lisa Price.

As the founder of the multimillion-dollar beauty empire Carol’s Daughter, Price started out in her home kitchen decades ago mixing ingredients for her line of hair and body care products. She’s established a cult following thanks to concoctions like the Hair Milk Combing Creme and Almond Cookie Hand Cream, which leave you feeling and smelling good from head to toe.

Price’s latest masterwork is the Pracaxi Nectar collection, which includes a “Wash-N-Go” Leave-in, Style Control Gel, and Curl Twisting Custard. The star ingredient, pracaxi oil, comes from a tree found in Brazil that possesses an ultra conditioning “nectar” that, when combined with acai extract, shea butter, and olive and castor oils, imparts impeccable softness and shine to hair.

Based on my hair texture and needs, I decided to give the Curl Twisting Custard a try. For starters, the smell will knock you off your feet the very second you untwist the top. The fragrance is bold but not too heady.

When styling my hair into two-strand twists, I typically use an ample amount (read: lots) of product. However, I needed to apply only a dime-size amount of this curl cream to individually twist my freshly washed hair. My coils soaked it up and my fingers easily glided as I made my way to the ends. I covered my hair with a Grace Eleyae Satin-Lined Cap after twisting my hair and kept it that way until I was ready to untwist on the second day.

To say my hair unraveled into the softest and most defined curls would be an understatement. Not a single strand crunched or flaked at the slightest touch, and whenever I shook my head, I was reminded of the heavenly scent.

So thank you, Lisa Price, for whipping up a curl cream that makes my locks feel cottony soft for days. Now, if I can just keep my hands out of my hair!
