A Crown Isn’t Enough to Get Miss USA to Vote for Donald Trump
Hilary Duff might have taken a stab at Tinder, but that doesn’t mean Olivia Jordan will. “Oh gosh no! Crown and Tinder do not mix,” the 2015 Miss USA winner tells Yahoo Style’s Joe Zee in this episode of Style Session. Instead, the beauty queen has her eye on a very different prize: the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.
Until then, the Oklahoma-born blonde bombshell is enjoying her run as Miss USA. “I wear the crown at all times. I do my dishes in it, I sleep with it,” Jordan, 26, jokes of her diamond, sapphire, and ruby-encrusted tiara, her prized possession. She does, however, counter her funny with serious. The interview portion of the Miss USA pageant included her thoughts on gender and race inequality in America; Jordan suggested that Oprah Winfrey and Harriet Tubman be faces of the $10 bill.
And of Donald Trump, the presidential candidate who just happens to own the Miss USA pageant, she says, “We all have the right to free speech. I think that it’s important to share your views and to talk about hot topic issues,” Jordan answers when asked if she takes offense to his divisive comments. “Immigration is definitely an issue in this country—I think we all can agree on that—and Trump has a way of really starting conversations; he’s always been good at getting media to talk about what he wants to talk about and that’s what they’re doing.”
And just because Jordan gets to live in a Trump apartment and plans to compete in another Trump event doesn’t mean the 2016 presidential candidate has a guaranteed vote in the pageant star.
“If he was nominated I would like to see how each candidate fares in the debates,” Jordan says. “Mr. Trump has got to do more to get my vote than crown me.”
