A Brilliant Person is Making A Heist Movie Set at the Met Gala

The fashion industry is with rife with stories of girls who’ve snuck into the Met Gala. A table at the party of the year, Anna Wintour’s annual star-studded gala featuring everyone who’s anyone and the most interesting (fashion-wise) red carpet, can set you back hundreds of thousands of dollars—and that’s only if Vogue’s EIC approves your presence (and your outfit). All of which means the most fashion-loving interns out there will go to extremes to sneak in.

No one, however, has dared pull off a heist on the museum’s most photographed night—until now.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that New Line Cinema is making Met Gala Heist (its working title, we hope). Gregg Rossen and Brian Sawyer, the duo who wrote the spec, apparently have a thing for holiday-themed TV movies. Their previous work includes Pete’s Christmas and Northpole, which might have featured very cool sweaters (just a guess) but could not be further from the world of Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, and Karl Lagerfeld. Michelle Sy, who produced Finding Neverland, will produce—and hopefully find a panel of fashion experts to weigh in.

The documentary filmed around this year’s gala, China: Through the Looking Glass, will offer audiences a real life glimpse into a tightly guarded planning process, but it sounds like Met Gala Heist will put an Ocean’s Eleven-like spin on the whole thing and honestly, we’re already excited.
