Fusae Yokoyama has spent nearly two-thirds of her life working as a bartender and hostess for Seattle’s oldest sushi restaurant, Maneki. She started working at the restaurant in 1960 when she was just 30 years old.

A superstar in Seattle, Fusae’s regulars refer to her as “mom” thanks to her sweet smile and contagious laugh. But at 90 years old, many people are wondering: Is retirement on the horizon?

“I don’t want to retire yet,” Fusae told In The Know. “I’d like to work as long as I can.”

Since Fusae has been working at Maneki for decades, it’s not unusual for her to get to know generations of families who frequent the restaurant.

“A lot of people, the parents come and then their children and their children [come] and they all say, ‘Oh, you’re still here! Nice to see you'” she joked.
