9 Tips for Pursuing Health and Success Before You’ve Got It

What does it take to achieve optimal human potential?

This is a quest I’ve been on since childhood, seeking greatness in sports, business, and life.

It has been the obsession of my good friend Aubrey Marcus as well. He has built a multi-million-dollar fitness and nutrition empire, called Onnit, over the past few years, aimed at providing the best products on the market for those seeking to maximize their mental and physical performance.

He’s a leader in his industry (and a fun workout partner, I might add). A couple years ago, I was asking him about how he built his business in the massively competitive health and fitness supplement industry.

He gave me the lowdown on the business side of things, but I loved what he told me about how he found the passion and fire inside to build this company. It definitely hasn’t all been smooth sailing for him, but Aubrey said that when he was starting out, and even now when he gets tired or distracted, he has a few go-tos that are his foundation for forward momentum.

Here are his top tips for continuing the pursuit of health (in all areas of life) whether you’ve found success yet or not.

  1. Practice being excellent.

  2. Practice becoming great.

  3. Work out.

  4. Take care of your body.

  5. Learn how to eat right.

  6. Experiment — learn what really works.

  7. Go off the beaten path.

  8. Spread your light to the world.

  9. Help as many people as possible.

As a personal friend of Aubrey’s, I can absolutely vouch that these habits have worked for him, and they can work for anyone.

Wherever you are on your health and personal journey, keep going. It’s the process that makes the masterpiece.
