Since taking over the reins at Calvin Klein, Belgian designer Raf Simons has given the all-American house a new lease on life—or, at the very least, on the streets where his red ink-splashed Canadian tuxedos, homespun ski hoods, and mirror-tipped cowboy boots have become a surefire way to stand out from the Fashion Week pack (and catch the eye of Phil Oh. Nevertheless, one defining feature of the 50-year-old label has remained constant: a featherlight touch when it comes to all things beauty.

For his Fall 2017 debut collection, Simons sent out a cast of fresh faces with rumpled waves and an ever-so-subtle speck of silver shimmer (blink and you could have missed it) dotted on the inner corner of the eye, while just last month he unveiled his most recent #MyCalvins campaign, which saw the Kardashian-Jenner sisters sporting little more than the line's signature tighty whities and soft swipes of bronzer. After all, if it ain't broke why fix it?

Back in 1994, at the peak of the house's heritage, a baby-faced Kate Moss stomped down the runway in a slapdash chignon that quickly established itself as the answer to all second-day hair woes. Two years later, glamazon Kirsty Hume's carefree lengths, accented with a mauve mouth, fell long and gloriously loose by her sides. Soon after, creamy blush and a touch-and-it-will-unravel braid entered the equation, while untamed ringlets, afros of all shapes and sizes, and split ends abounded in Spring 2016. Here, a lesson through the Calvin Klein ages in why flyaways and misplaced concealer are a blessing. Sometimes, less is more.
