This $828,888 NYC Home Is Going Viral For Its Eerie Listing Photos
It's no secret that real estate prices in New York City can be a little steep. And more often than not, the space in question is small and in desperate need of a little TLC. But one house's exorbitant listing price in Queens, NY has really got us baffled and... maybe just a little spooked. Currently going for $828,888, this house looks like the set of a horror film—and the listing even notes that the property is "unlivable."
The property in question is located 50-18 196th Street in the Fresh Meadows neighborhood. It has four bedrooms, two bathrooms...and a lot of work needed. The listing, held by Wachrachai (Kenny) Thongpanich of Douglas Elliman, explains the home is an "investor and builder opportunity." Under the "Building Features" section, it just reads "frame."
While the exterior is passable, its neglected interiors raise some concerns. The house, built in 1945, is filthy and falling apart. The photos show a plant growing into the kitchen through a window that was left open, cracks running through the walls, and rust covering the cabinets. Unlike your typical home on the market, it is not furnished or staged for clients to walk through.
The New York Post spoke with Thongpanich, who said its current owners, whom he declined to identify "kept it unattended for obviously an extended period of time... it just lacked upkeep, to say the least."
He explains that it's the location buyers should be looking at, not so much the home itself. The property is located in the city's leading school district and is minutes away from the Fresh Meadows Shopping Center.
While it's not exactly my style per se, for a super ambitious fixer upper couple, this home may have some potential.
