8 summer festivals you want to check out in South Jersey

Pssst. Did you know that South Jersey has multiple festivals in the summer months that might be worth checking out?

From the well-respected Willingboro Jazz Festival, which is in its 40th year — and has welcomed talented musicians over the years such as Sheila E., Howard Hewett, Big Daddy Kane, Al B. Sure!, The Baylor Project, Cece Peniston, Adam Blackstone, Derrick Hodge and many others — to the Haddon Township Summer Solstice Music Festival, which features live music, a beer garden and kid zone, there are a plethora of festivals to choose from through September.

Some events will be cancelled or postponed due to weather events. Please check ahead before going out to the festival.

Here are eight festivals to consider checking out in South Jersey:

Haddon Township Summer Solstice Music Festival, Haddon Twp.

The popular event, which is free and open to the public, will kick off on June 23 from 4 to 10 p.m. and takes place along Haddon Avenue, between Strawbridge Avenue and Cooper Street.

There will be a beer garden, live music, kid zone and food trucks.

There will be performances by Ndichu, John Torres Band, HaZy Cosmic Jive, Brown Sugar, and Random Acts of Soul.

Haddonfield Crafts & Fine Arts Festival, Haddonfield

The festival returns for its 29th year and will feature more than 200 artists showcasing fine arts and crafts from around the region and even beyond. The two-day event will be July 8 and July 9. Times are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 8 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 9.

The event runs along Kings Highway between Washington Avenue and Haddon Avenue, along Tanner Street to Euclid Avenue and on Kings Court.

Antique & Summer Market, WheatonArts, Millville

Ok, so it’s not exactly a festival, but it’s close enough. The annual Antique & Summer Market is an indoor/outdoor event featuring 40 plus antique dealers from the mid-Atlantic area, along with a variety of local artists, food vendors, and farm market proprietors.

The event will be July 30-31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a wide selection of ceramics, furniture, glass, jewelry, memorabilia, toys and vintage accessories.

This event is included with WheatonArts general admission.

Tidal Wave Music Festival, Atlantic City

Doors open at 1 p.m.

This country music festival takes place on Atlantic City’s beach, Aug. 11-13.

Performers will include: Thomas Rhett, Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Dustin Lynch, Randy Houser, Cole Swindell, Jo Dee Messina and more.

One-day general admission passes start at $125.

Willingboro Jazz Festival, Willingboro

The 40th annual Willingboro Jazz Festival will attract top talent once again.

It takes place in Millcreek Park and is a family-friendly event, which includes food and clothing vendors and much more.

The festival will be Aug. 13 from noon to 8 p.m. with a fireworks finale.

The Collingswood Crafts and Fine Art Festival, Collingswood

Now in its 17th year, the two-day festival is Aug. 19 and 20.

More than 165 plus craft and fine artists featured were selected for the quality and variety of their work. There will be offerings of contemporary designs in wood, glass, clay, metal and fiber.

There will be wearable art, display and functional pottery, blown and stained glassFine and fashion jewelry, garden and home decor, soaps, scents.

In addition to the downtown eateries, there will be additional food tents and food trucks.

St. Anthony’s Italian Heritage Festival, Glassboro

The Glassboro Town Square will be the site of the annual event on Sept. 9 from 2 to 10 p.m. at 1 High Street.

There will, of course, be Italian food, a beer garden, cultural exhibits and demonstrations, live music, carnival games and family activities, a wine making competition, artisan vendors and food trucks.

Xponential Music Festival, Wiggins Waterfront Park, Camden

The XPoNential Music Festival takes place at Wiggins Waterfront Park Sept. 22-24. Acts include Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers, Low Cut Connie, Allison Russell, Old Crow Medicine Show and Tegan and Sara. The festival is sponsored by radio station WXPN and is in its 30th year.
