The 10 Most Beautiful Places Around the World to Visit in July
From turtle watching in Mexico to a safari drive in the Serengeti, here are the TK things to add to your travel bucket list this summer.
Umbria, Italy
Located where Umbria meets Tuscany, the 3,700-acre Reschio Estate in the Umbrian hills is an oasis of stunning architecture, breathtaking design, thoughtful ecology, history and exquisite cuisine. The estate is dotted with ruined farmhouses that have been slowly and thoughtfully renovated into modern homes, and the centerpiece of which is the Castello di Reschio, an 11th-century ruined castle that now houses the luxury hotel that opened in 2021.
Owned by London-trained architect Count Benedikt, along with his wife Donna Nencia Corsini, the couple has set about restoring 29 of the 50 ruins on the estate and transforming them into exquisite houses. Today, seven houses are available for guests to rent for vacation. The 36-suite Hotel Castello di Reschio features carefully thought-out architectural and design details, open fireplaces, an array of antiques and custom-designed furniture from local artisans. The hotel features a restaurant whose terrace offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills, the Palm Court bar where guests sip local wines as they listen to a jazz pianist, an outdoor infinity pool and a bathhouse and spa located in the castle’s ancient wine cellars.
Summer is the perfect time to visit the Reschio Estate, when guests can go horseback riding on the grounds, play a game of tennis, go for a bike ride, take a dip in the lake, go fishing and much more. Even more, guests visiting July 28 or 29 can catch the Reschio’s Family Theatrical Spectacular, a full-scale theatrical production organized by the hotel team, who oversee the playwriting, original choreography, music, costumes and set design. For the 2023 season, an original murder mystery will be performed on a purpose-built stage at the family’s home.
Even more, the 50th anniversary of the Umbria Jazz Festival takes place from July 7-16, 2023, drawing in visitors from around the world to this important event which is just a quick drive away from the Reschio Estate.
São Paulo, Brazil
Brazil is located in the Southern Hemisphere, so July falls during the winter season when the weather is ideal (there is little rain and the temperature ranges from the mid-50s to the low 70s). São Paulo is a bustling city with plenty of places to explore, from incredible parks and architecture to soccer museums and cultural events. Don’t miss visiting the Paulista Museum (also known to locals as the Ipiranga Museum), which reopened in September 2022 after a $40 million renovation.

Hvar, Croatia
Hvar is the sunniest island in Croatia and boasts historic cobblestone streets, beautiful beaches, lavender fields, vineyards, over 100 biking routes and six UNESCO heritage sites. July is an ideal time to visit, since the island warms up for the summer and celebrates its annual Lavender Festival (which runs from July 14-15 this year in Velo Grablje). There, you can stock up on pure lavender oils and delicacies, local wine, art and handicraft. July is a great month to visit Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, since the dry season (which runs from June to October) brings thirsty animals to rivers and watering holes to drink. During this time, The Great Migration is at its prime, and you’re likely to see an iconic river crossing. In many parts of the U.S., July can bring scorching weather, crazy humidity and mosquitos the size of small birds—especially in southern states. Though we love alfresco summer dinner parties as much as the next person, sometimes you just need to escape to a cooler place (in both the literal and figurative sense) come midsummer. These incredible destinations around the world will help you beat the heat and provide a much-needed dose of culture, excitement and beauty. From São Paulo to Switzerland to the Serengeti, here are the best places to travel in July.
Umbria, Italy
Umbria, the Italian region bordering Tuscany, is known for its Medieval hill towns, lush forests, truffles and wine (umm, sign us up!). Summer is the perfect time to visit, since the weather is sunny but temps don't usually rise above 80 or fall below 60 degrees. Enjoy days outside horseback riding, fishing, lounging by the pool, or sipping wine alfresco. This year, the Umbria Jazz Festival (which runs from July 7-16) will be celebrating their 50th year. Stay at Castello di Reschio for the ultimate design- and architecture-lover's retreat.

For the ultimate dose of Americana, head to Nantucket around the 4th of July.
