If you totally forgot that the 2018 Emmys already happened, don't sweat it. The Emmy Awards are usually on Sunday evenings, but this year, the powers that be decided Monday night was the optimal time for television shenanigans.

Obviously, this means some fans missed out on the action as it happened live. Don't worry too much though, because we've got you covered with a rundown of every need-to-know moment from the show.

1. It opened with a skit on how it's the "most diverse Emmys ever" — but almost every single 2018 Emmy winner was white.

The night kicked off with a tongue-in-cheek opener about representation where Kenan Thompson, Kate McKinnon, RuPaul, Sterling K. Brown, Kristen Bell, Titus Burgess, and Ricky Martin joked about having "solved it" when it comes to diversity.

But once the first and second Emmy award winners of the night were white ... and the third ... and the fourth, and the fifth, and the sixth, that opener had a lot of people feeling more like this:

2. Alex Borstein gave a bathroom PSA as she won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy.

“Ladies, when you use a public restroom, sit down,” she began. “If you sit, we can all sit.”

3. Betty White dazzled the crowd with her mere presence.

If anyone deserves a standing ovation just by walking on stage, it's Betty White. And that's exactly what happened when the 96-year-old made a surprise appearance at the Emmys.

It was a beautiful moment that may or may not have caused "Betty White" to trend on Twitter, subsequently freaking everyone out who wasn't paying attention and causing them to immediately check on her wellbeing. She's fine, guys. Just living her best life.

4. Regina King won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.

When King's name was read off, she was the only person of color in the room to win an Emmy at this point in the night, drawing huge applause from the audience — especially from Leslie Jones, who presented King the award alongside RuPaul amid cheers of her support.

5. An actual real-life proposal happened on stage.

Just when the show was hitting a mid-point lull, what comes out of left field? A proposal!!

It was arguably the most exciting and unanticipated part of the night. When Glenn Weiss won the Emmy for Directing of a Variety Series, he used the moment in the spotlight to propose to his girlfriend.

Magical.

6. James Corden said we should name the show "EmmysSoWhite" and everyone nervous laughed.

As you can expect, reactions were ... mixed.

7. Thandie Newton had the best one-liner of the entire night.

Newton won the Emmy for Outstanding Support Actress in a Drama and began her speech by saying, "I don't even believe in God, but I'm going to thank her tonight."

To top it off, it's her first-ever Emmy and her daughter's birthday. "My family, my daughter Ripley turns 18 today and I get to guide you and love you and protect you, which is my north star. I love you so much, baby. Thank you, thank you for this," she said.

8. Aretha Franklin, Anthony Bourdain, Burt Reynolds, John McCain, Hugh Hefner, and David Cassidy were honored.

During the evening's "In Memoriam" section, a slew of legendary artists and figures were mentioned. One late rapper, however, was missing. Mac Miller, who passed away weeks ago at age 26, was not mentioned, causing his fans to share their grievances on Twitter.
