It’s no secret that furnishing and decorating a home can get expensive, whether you’re in need of big-ticket essentials, like a sofa and coffee table, or just want to give your space a quick refresh with new accessories. That’s why turning to budget-friendly home decor stores can be an excellent shopping starting point. Rather than focusing on just one company, though, I recommend collecting pieces from a mix of budget-friendly brands, which can give your space that high-low appearance without actually having to invest in anything super pricey.

With this in mind, I curated a list of some of the cheapest home decor stores in the country for everything from furniture to decorative accents. Despite their affordable price points, many items found at the likes of places like World Market, Target, Marshalls, and even IKEA have quality construction similar to more expensive retailers. Of course, plenty of stores aren’t mentioned on this round-up (and thrift store shopping is yet another level to unlock when furnishing a home), but I focused on brands that have an online presence with a breadth of offerings, decent customer service, and competitive pricing so you can shop wherever you live. Hopefully, you find something you haven’t explored yet for decor on this list!

1. IKEA

IKEA is one of the most popular stores for cheap, contemporary home decor. Not only can you find stylish furniture, textiles (including rugs, window treatments, and bedding), and decor at excellent prices, but it’s also easy to create your own DIY IKEA hacks to create unique pieces of furniture that feel elevated and trendy without breaking the bank. The Swedish home brand also carries cute seasonal and holiday accessories, and they occasionally collaborate with designers on modern, luxe-for-less lines as well (including Marimekko, designer Ilse Crawford, and Acne Studios).

2. Marshalls

Marshalls might already be a go-to for your wardrobe, but the retailer also has a fantastic home decor section that’s not unlike HomeGoods (except you can shop online!). Whether you’re looking for a new nightstand, entryway bench, or smaller accent pillows, Marshalls has it all — and for great prices, too. I highly suggest shopping the Marshalls’ website because you can usually score some pretty, low-cost pieces that might not be at your local store. Quantities are more robust online than in store, too, so you’ll be able to find a pair of lamps, for example, easily. Plus, the store frequently restocks, so there’s always something new to browse.

3. T.J.Maxx

Similar to Marshalls, T.J.Maxx is another retailer with some of the best hidden-gem home decor finds. I love it because you can furnish and decorate your entire space while staying within budget. And, in many cases, you’ll encounter cheap alternatives to trendy staples, whether that’s vintage-inspired colored glassware or Pottery Barn-esque chairs and rugs. It’s also the perfect place to shop for holiday decor year-round, and they usually have festive items for St. Patrick’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and more.

4. Target

At Target, you can count on a wide variety of budget-friendly yet stylish furniture and home decor. That even includes organization options — like shelving, baskets, and trinket boxes — as well as a vast collection of high-quality glassware and dishes comparable to more high-end brands. One of the best things about Target, though, is their frequent and ongoing designer collaborations, like the Hearth & Hand with Magnolia line created in collaboration with Joanna Gaines, the Threshold designed with Studio McGee line, and Justina Blakeney of Jungalow’s exclusive Opalhouse assortment.

5. Walmart

Walmart’s online marketplace is similar to Amazon, in that it carries a range of items from different brands including trendy pieces like faux succulents and glass mushroom lamps. They also have no shortage of exclusive collections, including Drew Barrymore’s Beautiful line, complete with, well, beautiful kitchen appliances, decor, and furniture (including that viral bouclé chair). Bonus: If you’re a Walmart member, you can score free shipping.

6. Wayfair

In addition to offering low prices on furniture, Wayfair has some of the best sales on home decor. At any given time, you can find deals on sofas, bed frames, dressers, dining tables, and rugs, as well as smaller accessories such as picture frames, tabletop decor, and throw pillows. I also love that they carry some of the best outdoor furniture and decor. Plus, the store has many different organizational pieces to choose from.

7. World Market

If you have an eclectic boho or mid-century-modern-inspired style, look no further than World Market for cheap home decor. From small accessories to bigger-ticket pieces like accent chairs and desks, World Market offers chic inventory that ranges from low- to mid-price. Similar to Wayfair, it also has an extensive outdoor assortment, allowing you to find stylish and unique patio or balcony pieces without breaking the bank. If you live near a store, the brand often offers an extra 10% discount for in-store pickup orders for World Market Rewards members (which is free to join).

8. Amazon

It’s impossible to cover the cheapest home decor stores without mentioning Amazon. You can often find incredibly inexpensive dupes — even compared to items sold at similar budget-minded stores. The site is also great for anyone who needs pieces with a faster lead time. While not everything qualifies for Prime shipping, you can still take advantage of expedited shipping options that rival traditional retail timelines. Not to mention, Amazon has a relatively easy return policy — even for furniture and home decor.
