1. 'Hollywood'
Hollywood takes place in Los Angeles in the aftermath of World War II, following a group of aspiring actors as they attempt to navigate the changing industry. Since the characters face different biases that are often seen in Hollywood—including discrimination based on race, gender and sexuality—the series is filled with meaningful moments and plotlines.
2. 'American Horror Story'
American Horror Story is an anthology series, which means each season has an entirely different story line that examines a uniquely terrifying theme. While the first one is Murder House, other installments include Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, Cult, Apocalypse and 1984.
3. 'American Crime Story'
Similar to AHS, American Crime Story is an anthology show, but what makes it different is that it dramatizes real-life events. For example, the first season is titled The People v. O. J. Simpson, while the second one is The Assassination of Gianni Versace.
4. 'Ratched'
The series is inspired by the character from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Nurse Mildred Ratched (Sarah Paulson). Taking place in the’40s, Ratched documents the young asylum nurse as she secretly develops a strange bitterness toward her patients, ultimately unleashing a darkness that can only be described as monstrous.
5. 'The Politician'
This musical series tells the story of Payton (Ben Platt), a wealthy guy from Santa Barbara who wants to run for office. But first, he must make it through high school.
6. 'Glee'
Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) is the proud leader of McKinley High School’s glee club, which doubles as a safe space for students to find acceptance. Together, the group battles bullies, stereotypes and the manipulative cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), who’s determined to sabotage the club.
7. 'Pose'
This musical series offers a glimpse into life and society (specifically, ball culture) in New York City in the ’80s. In particular, it focuses on Mother Blanca (MJ Rodriguez), a manicurist who forms a community where LGBTQ youth can go for support.
8. '9-1-1'
This procedural drama offers a realistic glimpse into the lives of first responders. Join police officers, firefighters and dispatchers as they work together to save lives on a variety of heart-stopping emergencies.
