The 10 Best Kitchen Faucets With Pull-Down Sprayers That Make Cleanup a Breeze

I never thought about my kitchen faucet. But once I started the restless, aggravating, all-consuming pursuit that is New York City apartment hunting, I found myself investigating the details about a space, things that can honestly make or break a living experiences. One of those details just so happened to be—you guessed it—the faucet planted smack-dab in the middle of the countertop. The distance from the faucet to the fridge, how many settings it had, the power of the water flow: These small features suddenly became a big deal. Which is why, out of all the kinds of different faucets available, I decided to invest in one with a pull-down sprayer.

More from Robb Report

How often do you think about your kitchen faucet, really? Probably never, if I had to guess. Still, it’s arguably the most-used appliance in a home—besides your beloved coffee machine, I’m sure. It’s there to clean each and every one of your plates after that Sunday family dinner; wash away the dirt and grime once you step through the door from a hard day at work; and make sure all of your produce is germ-free. And here to offer up greater ease and mobility is a pull-down sprayer. That kind of dependability is not something you can easily overlook. Especially when you’re, say, looking to remodel or simply upgrade a worn-down faucet that’s decades old.

Indeed, the world is littered with kitchen faucets—and, frankly, a lot of them look pretty darn similar. Don’t equate looks with quality, though (book by its cover and all that jazz). The best kitchen faucets with pull-down sprayers are perfect blends of both.

What to Consider Before Buying the Best Kitchen Faucets with Pull-Down Sprayers

Height and Spout Reach: Knowing the height of your kitchen faucet is essential, since you have to know how much real estate you’re working with. Say your sink peers out over a beautiful window; you don’t want an overly high sink to clog up that view. The height also comes into play when you’re trying to wash large pots and pans: If your faucet is too low, you may not be able to clean those very easily. You also need to make sure your faucet is the correct height to fit into your countertop properly. Something else to keep an eye on is the distance from the counter to the spout reach, which is the horizontal distance from the center of the spout opening to the center of the spout base. The spout distance needs to be far enough for you to wash your hands over plates, pots, and utensils with room to spare.

Spray Functions: How many spray options your kitchen faucet has can really change the game when it comes to clean-up time. Of course, if you’re someone who just wants to stick to the basics, you don’t need all the bells and whistles. Just look for a faucet with stream mode (a.k.a, the classic faucet function we all know and love). For those who walk on the wilder side, spray and waterfall modes are also very helpful in banishing grime and food remnants. More often than not, you’ll find a faucet with at least two modes, though.

Finish Options: It’s okay to be a bit vain about how your kitchen faucet looks. After all, it will be adorning your countertop for years to come. You want it to match the overall vibe of your space—as well as, stand the test of time. We are dealing with water here, obviously, so we need a material that’s up to snuff in the battle against rust. Look for stainless steel, brass, or zinc—a trio that you can depend without worrying about water damage.

Installation Holes: This is exactly how it sounds, folks: Installation holes are what you need to actually install your precious new kitchen faucet into your countertop. Simple enough, but note: Make sure you’re buying a faucet that matches the pre-existing holes in your kitchen, otherwise you’re looking at a full-on disaster. It’s something that’s easily remedied by a return, but why waste your oh-so-valuable time doing so when you can buy the correct appliance from the get-go? Usually, you’ll see a kitchen faucet have just one installation hole, but that can go up to two or three depending on the model and its accessories.
