75th Emmy Awards Move Air Date as Strikes Continue

Last month it was announced that the 75th Emmy Awards were to be postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

With an original air date of September 18, it has now been revealed that the 2023 Emmys will take place on January 15, 2024. Billboard shared that this will be the first time there will have been no Primetime Emmy show in a calendar year since they launched in 1949.

Q1 of the calendar year is a busy one for awards as the Golden Globes are currently set for January 7, 2024, despite CBS, Fox, Netflix, Amazon, ABC/Disney+/Hulu, Apple TV+, the Turner Network and the Roku Channel all reportedly passing on airing them. The Critics Choice Awards are set for January 14, the Grammys for February 4 and the BAFTA and People's Choice Awards for February 18.

Without actors and writers able to campaign throughout the latter half of 2023, it is difficult to know yet if things will run as planned or if further delays are expected to come.
