From Woman's Day

You already know Eva Longoria has a solid skincare routine—just think about it, this is the woman who taught the masses how to pronounce hy-uh-luh-ron-ic acid. Surprisingly, the multi hyphenate L’Oreal spokeswoman, former Desperate Housewives actress, director, producer, entrepreneur, and activist keeps her skincare routine relatively minimalist. These are her keys to keeping her skin youthful and radiant.

Be diligent about a skincare routine.

“People think the trick to looking younger is makeup, but it’s skin-care,” Longoria told Allure, when asked about her tricks for looking younger. “If you don’t have good skin, piling on makeup just makes you look older and much worse. When it comes to makeup, I don’t overset or over powder it. The more powder you put on the fine lines in your face, the more you see it. Most people say ‘oh let me cover it’ but it looks much thicker and worse.”

Wear SPF, always.

Like any beauty junkie, Longoria is obsessive about her sun protection—in fact, whenever she’s interviewed about beauty, she makes sure to mention her SPF. She told New Beauty that sunblock is “the one thing she never leaves the house without.

“My mother was so strict on wearing sunblock,” Longoria told Allure—“She always said, ‘the skin you take care of in your 20s is the skin you have in your 40s’.” The star also gushed about her love of sunblock to Forbes, saying, "I wear sunblock every day and that’s been life-changing for my skin, just protecting it from sunspots and even driving in your car, you can be affected by the sun."

Swap your makeup remover for baby oil.

Longoria gave Hello Giggles her best budget tip—“Sometimes I use baby oil as a makeup remover,” she said, proving that even for celebrities, sometimes more expensive doesn’t mean better.

Seek out effective facials.

“Facials to me aren’t about a ‘spa day’ where we’re just going to relax,” Longoria explained to New Zealand publication FQ, “facials for me are like work. They’re painful… And it’s a chemical peel and a light treatment and ughh… every time I come out of one, I’m thinking ‘that wasn’t at all relaxing!’”

Invest in a hydrating routine.

When asked about her skincare routine, Longoria dished to Forbes about her love of playing with serums and moisturizers. “My skincare routine is the most important. I really do a lot to take care of my skin, because if you don’t have good skin then you can’t have great makeup. For me it’s about hydrating, drinking water. I’m a big fan of different serums. The whole Revitalift series is my favorite. The eye serum, the face serum, the neck serum—I just love to hydrate and moisturize my face.”

Take time for an at-home mask.

She loves a good at-home mask. “I also do lots of at-home masks, L’Oréal has these amazing new clay masks, they’re awesome. They’re such fun and they feel like a spa treatment,” Longoria told Mirror.

Fall in love.

When Mirror commented that Longoria didn’t look like she was aging, she replied, “I think it’s because I’m in love right now. That’s the best thing for your skin—happiness.” So, you can now add dating to the list of things you do because they’re good for your skin.
