2023 was a stellar year for television. This year, we saw the end of Succession, possibly the best series of the last decade. We saw the second installment of The White Lotus, which cemented an anthology with the ability to travel. We saw The Last of Us, finally bringing justice to the gamer community. And all of that was just on HBO. A24 lended its talents to Netflix with Beef. Nathan Fielder gifted the world a double serving of cringe with The Rehearsal and The Curse. The Bear gave Carmy his restaurant. The Bachelor franchise finally aged up.

Amid the SAG-AFTRA strike, which lasted more than four months, the state of television for 2024 was looking absolutely dismal. Our favorite shows were pushed beyond the scale of our waning attention spans. Series like Euphoria, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us were all pushed to 2025, an incomprehensible premiere date.

Now, as we roll into the new year, the good news is beginning to trickle in. Television will be made in 2024, it will be streamable, it will be award-worthy, and most importantly, it will be hot. Our ledger is in flux and our eyes are peeled, but for now, here are seven of the sexiest series set to stream in 2024.

Griselda

2024 is already off to a great start, because we’re getting Sofía Vergara back on our screens. The Modern Family alum will be at the helm of her own crime drama based on the life of an infamous drug trafficker, Griselda Blanco. Blanco, known as the “Godmother of Cocaine,” ruled the cocaine trade in Miami and Colombia in the 1980s, aided by a team of hunks including a string of husbands and a full-blown hitman.

Streams on Netflix on January 25, 2024.

Mr and Mrs Smith

Brangelina has been replaced by a new John and Jane Smith (this pairing hopefully less litigious.) Atlanta creator Donald Glover and PEN15’s Maya Erskine will star in the classic spy story, based on the 2005 film of the same name, as two undercover spies who pose as a married couple to fool the normies around them. The series will also feature an ensemble of guest stars including Michaela Coel, Paul Dano, John Turturro, Parker Posey, Sarah Paulson, Alexander Skarsgård, and more.

Streams on Amazon Prime Video on February 2, 2024.

Bridgerton Season 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5gfqZkC2DA&pp=ygUTYnJpZGdlcnRvbiBzZWFzb24gMw%3D%3D

Bridgerton is (finally) back. The third season of the hit Netflix series will drop in two parts in 2024, the first half in May and the second in June. The new season will follow Penelope Featherington, still moonlighting as Lady Whistledown, in her romance with her life-long crush Colin Bridgerton. In a typical Bridgerton-style ruse, the season will begin with Colin “coaching” Penelope in the art of confidence as she works to find her husband, but we can guess how that will end.

Streams on Netflix, May 16 (and June 13) 2024.

House of the Dragon Season 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQ8H5gqGA34&pp=ygUcaG91c2Ugb2YgdGhlIGRyYWdvbiBzZWFzb24gMg%3D%3D

Westeros is a top travel destination for 2024, according to the bigwigs at HBO Max. The second season of the hit Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon, will return next summer. Little is known about the season’s plotlines and story arcs, but we know the universe’s civil war, “The Dance of the Dragons,” is imminent. The new season is sure to follow the steam and stress of its predecessor, and for that we are thankful.

Streams on HBO Max, Summer 2024.

Love is Blind: UK

Everyone’s favorite reality dating show will return in 2024. Love is Blind: UK has already been promised to fans, but if we follow the series’ trajectory since its 2020 premiere – five seasons and 70 episodes in three years – we can safely bet that Love is Blind season six will also grace our screens in the new year. The UK edition of the hit series will be the first in the region, following other international versions including Brazil, Germany, and Japan.

Streams on Netflix, Date TBD.

The Perfect Couple

Hit book turned limited series alert! How did this one slip through Reese’s hands? The Perfect Couple, which is based on the Elin Hilderbrand novel of the same name, will star Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Meghann Fahy, Dakota Fanning, and more. The series will unfold over six episodes, following a woman who, on the morning of her wedding to the wealthiest man in Nantucket, finds a dead body floating in the harbor nearby.

Will stream on Netflix, Date TBD.

Disclaimer

Disclaimer’s place on this list is not a reflection of our excitement, merely a reflection of our understanding. In other words, we don’t know sh*t about this series. Here’s what we do know. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón and based on the 2015 novel by Renée Knight, the series will star Cate Blanchett as a journalist whose life and deepest secrets are revealed in another person’s novel. Production finished on this series in February of 2023, so here’s hoping we get Disclaimer before summer.

Streams on Apple TV+, Date TBD.
