Any horror film fan will be quick to recognize the Amityville Horror House, which was the setting of an Oscar-nominated movie in 1979 about the spooky aftermath of a horrific crime that happened there.

In November, 1974, six members of the DeFeo family—Parents Ronald, 44, and Louise, 42, along with their four children John, 9, Mark, 12, Allison, 13, and Dawn 18—were all shot to death in their beds. The crime was initially reported by a fifth child Ronald Jr. aka Butch, 23, who later confessed to the murders. But according to legend, that awful event was only the beginning.

One year later, the family of George and Kathleen Lutz moved into the home, after having it blessed by a priest—but the house was so haunted, they only lasted 28 days before fleeing. From weird smells to a rotating crucifix, things got weirder by the day. George began waking up every morning at 3:15am—the same time the murders were allegedly carried out—and Kathleen once levitated two feet off their bed. The kids also began sleeping on their stomachs, the same position the DeFeo family was in that fateful night in ‘74—and the family began seeing visions of a demonic pig-like creature.
