7 Ridiculous Foods We Secretly Loved In 2017

From Delish

This year, there were plenty of food moments that made us do a double take. Arby's one-day-only nationwide venison sandwich? Didn't see it coming. Chipotle's less-than-stellar queso? Way too much build-up and not worth the wait.

But then there were those foods that - as much as we wanted to hate for being extra, basic, or just plain ridiculous - had a certain genius to them (or just tasted delicious). While we're not proud, these are the foods we're secretly thankful came out of 2017.

Mac and Cheetos

Mac and cheese-stuffed Cheetos definitely sound like something dreamed up while under the influence, and that's probably how they're best consumed. However, our junk food-loving souls ate these up and were way too excited when they returned to Burger King this year, along with a new Flamin' Hot version. They may be trash, but they're grossly delicious.

Over-The-Top Bloody Marys

Nashville's brunch game peaked this year, and out of it came one of the craziest Bloody Marys we've seen, topped with fried chicken, fried okra, pickles, avocados, peppers, and a scotch egg. It's basically an entire meal in one drink, and we love it.

Firework Oreos

Oreo cranked out a TON of new flavors this year, but the wackiest had to be the Firework Oreos that came out over the summer. Firework Oreos had popping candies inside the creme, which crackled and popped in your mouth as you chewed. Sounds weird, but oddly tasted great.

Naked Chicken Chips

Yes, these are basically just flattened-out chicken nuggets. But they're shaped like tortilla chips and came with cheese dipping sauce ... what's not to love? Taco Bell debuted these guys in May, and brought them back this fall on their own and stuffed inside a quesadilla. #Blessed

Ice Cream-Stuffed Donuts

Any time two desserts are combined, there's a pretty good chance it'll be a win. Such was the case with ice-cream stuffed donuts, made famous by Stuffed Ice Cream in New York City. They've since popped up at bakeries and ice cream shops in L.A., San Diego, and Nashville, and are just wonderfully sweet as they sound.

Food Advent Calendars

From booze to cheese, tons of non-chocolate advent calendars popped up this year, and we are here for it, as the 2017 kids say. Sure, drinking every day during December may be frowned upon, but you have to get through the holidays somehow. And cheese every day? That's truly the dream.

Stuffed Bagels

Bantam Bagels started making cream-cheese stuffed bagel balls a couple of years ago, but 2017 was the year they really went mainstream. As in, you can buy-them-at-Starbucks mainstream. It also inspired very, very similar riffs (ahem, Einstein Brothers). Turning a handheld food into an even more easily-held food may seem like peak America, but dammit if it's not actually convenient.
