These Are The 7 Most Popular Super Bowl Foods of 2019

If you ask us, one of the best parts of the Super Bowl, aside from the commercials, are the snacks at every Super Bowl watch party. And according to a new survey, 55 percent of Americans plan on watching the Super Bowl this Sunday, and 15 percent plan on watching with friends and family at a Super Bowl party.

If you’re among the 6 percent of super fans hosting their own parties, or if you’re invited to a watch party but aren’t sure what to bring, the results are in for the seven most popular Super Bowl snacks for 2019 (though we recommend building your own stadium out of snacks). There aren’t a lot of surprises on this list—it looks like you should plan on having a lot of classic favorites on your menu—but each one is a definite touchdown.

7. Tacos

If you’re planning to have a taco party on Super Bowl Sunday, you’ll probably be in the minority. Just 14 percent of the survey participants said they were planning to include tacos as part of this weekend’s feast. It’s true that they can be a little hard to eat while you’re watching the game, but personally, we can’t resist the draw of a make-your-own taco bar. Tacos are also tied at 14 percent with cookies and hot dogs, so if you’re searching for less-common snacks to bring to a Super Bowl party, those are also good choices.

6. Burgers and Sliders

Sliders, in particular, are a game day classic. They’re quick to cook, easy to grab, and delicious to snack on as you cheer for your team. Almost 1/5 of Americans agree, with 19 percent planning to serve up a platter of burgers or sliders for the big game. If you want to go the non-traditional burger route, we recommend combining it with an appetizer favorite, meatballs, to make these addicting Meatball Sliders.

5. Cheese and Crackers

You don’t have to go all-out with a charcuterie board this Sunday (but if you want to, we can help show you how to do it right). Instead, 24 percent of Americans are planning to snack on simple cheese and crackers. If you’re watching solo, feel free to just stock up on your favorites, but if you’re hosting a crowd, you might want to go a bit bigger. After all, we Americans love our cheese, especially on Super Bowl Sunday.

4. Nachos

Nachos are hot on the heels of cheese and crackers, coming in at 27 percent. Of course, since this is the Super Bowl we’re talking about, we don’t just mean warm cheese over chips. Instead, pile on tasty toppings like beef, beans, salsa, and spicy peppers. You can also think outside the box a bit more and try Gyro Nachos, or boozy Tequila Shrimp Nachos. The possibilities are only limited by the strength of your chips.

3. Chicken Wings

It’s not truly a Super Bowl party until you break out the chicken wings, and 32 percent of Americans agree. The only surprise here is that chicken wings aren’t even higher on the list. They’re easy to customize—we’ve fit five different flavors into just one batch before—and you can serve them with a variety of creamy and spicy sauces to let your guests mix and match even more. To save yourself time for watching the pre-game, try making slow cooker chicken wings this Sunday (they’ll save you space in the oven, too).

2. Pizza

Order up! We’re sure seeing this football food staple so high on the list isn’t a shock to anyone. Whether you’re planning on snagging takeout this weekend or making your own pizza, 37 percent of Americans say they’re going to do the same. That said, if you’re hoping to get delivery or takeout, we’d definitely suggest putting your order in early if you want your pizza (or pizzas) to arrive before kickoff.

1. Chips and Dip

Taking home the trophy of snacks for the Super Bowl this year is chips and dip! You’re most likely to see chips and dip at the snack table on Sunday, as 47 percent of the survey participants said they’d be serving them. And considering all the possible chip and dip combinations, it’s no wonder that nearly half of Super Bowl watchers plan on loading up their plates with them. Dips are another easy appetizer you can make in your slow cooker—and if you want your buffalo chicken dip to stay hot all the way until the last seconds of the game, serving it slow cooker-style is definitely the best way.
