7 new labels to love for the autumn 2020 season
Now, more than ever, it is important to support small independent brands - plus what's better than owning something unique, that you won't see everyone else wearing from the high street? With that sentiment in mind, we've rounded up our favourite new fashion labels are set to make waves in the autumn season ahead...
Cawley Studio
Hannah Cawley launched her namesake brand with the aim to produce clothing that focused on celebrating British craftsmanship and high quality natural fabrics. Cawley Studio’s designs are cut by hand, French seamed and finished in London by a small team of skilled artisans. Since the lockdown this year, Hannah has focused on made-to-order pieces which she makes at her home studio - discover her timeless checked dresses and smocked tops.
Roop
Roop is a British accessories brand founded by Manchester-based Natasha Fernandes Anjo in 2019. Roop’s signature designs are inspired by furoshiki, the traditional Japanese cloth wrapping technique. Natasha makes all her bags at her home by hand, using remnant and vintage fabrics, meaning each print or colourway has a limited run - so don’t hang around if you’ve seen one you like.
Ren London
Ren London uses all natural linen fibres to create timeless pieces to suit women at every stage in their life. Each collection is produced in limited batches in London. The billowing blouses are ideal end-of-summer attire.
Benjamin Fox
Benjamin Fox is a British brand founded by Ciara Booyens in 2020. After graduating from UCL in Law she decided she needed a change of pace after feeling worn out from London life, so she moved back home with her family and started to get back into sewing. Ciara’s love for sewing came from her mother and grandmother and it’s something she has always found joy in. Through this love for hand crafted pieces she now makes custom made womenswear using sustainable fabrics, in sizes UK 6-22. The big collar blouses have Zoom-call appeal.
Raie Eyewear
Raie Eyewear is an Australian sun-wear label that launched in 2019. Focused on timeless colours and classic frame shapes, Raie creates sustainably designed sunglasses with minimal waste. Every pair is made from 100% bio acetate, and is biodegradable. The finishing touches include a vegan leather soft case and 100% recyclable hard box.
Usisi Sister
USISI SISTER [pronounced Oo-See-See] is a womenswear label founded by sisters Kathryn and Millie Allsopp in 2019. Combining over twenty years of shared experience in design and fashion-buying the sisters decided to launch their own carefully curated capsule collection, offering elevated separates including classic tailoring, eveningwear and statement accessories. Their collections are designed in London and produced in fair trade factories around the world, using sustainability source natural fibres.
Tulsi
Tulsi is an Australian ready-to-wear label founded by Megan Murray and Laura Tyrie in 2018. Inspired by the women in their life Megan and Laura wanted to create the pieces they felt were missing from their wardrobe. Their designs are inspired by vintage fashion and aim to create summer wardrobe staples. Tulsi is stocked exclusively in the UK at Cult Mia, an online retailer stocking independent brands from around the world.
