Vibrant hues of blue and purple, and vivid shades of green and red were all projected to dominate 2019, and boy, did they ever. Hell, I was *this* close to impulsively purchasing an emerald green couch a few months ago; but don’t worry, I was too broke to follow through. Next year, though, it’s all about turning down the vibrancy a few notches and going au naturel in our homes — at least, according to Behr, which has recently announced its 2020 Color of the Year. It’s called Back to Nature, and it’s a subtle, earthy yellow-green shade.
“As we look ahead to a new decade, Back To Nature encourages us to reengage with the natural world, which we know can have a real, positive impact on our well-being,” says Erika Woelfel, vice president of color and creative services at Behr, in a press release.

According to Woelfel, Back to Nature is the cornerstone of Behr’s 2020 Color Trends palette, an annual color forecast based on global color trend research, revealed earlier this summer. The palette is comprised of 15 colors, ranging from subtle pastels and neutrals to rustic tones.
