It should come as no surprise that we’re big admirers of Dolly Parton. We value her as an amazing singer-songwriter and are drawn to her big personality and warmth, of course. But she’s also a legit home cook!
In April 2023, we discovered Dolly’s coleslaw recipe and were blown away — it’s the only slaw we make during summer now. And since then, we haven’t stopped cooking her recipes.
In honor of the country music star’s 78th birthday, these are our very favorite Dolly recipes we can’t live without. Our plans tonight? To bake one of her cake mixes. (Yes, we love her so much we tested Dolly’s line of Duncan Hine mixes, too.)
Dolly Parton’s Legendary "Stampede Soup"
This creamy soup comes together in just about 20 minutes. The secret? Canned veggies!
Dolly Parton’s Famous Chicken & Dumplings
In this ultra-cozy dinner, Dolly calls for boiling a whole chicken, which results in a very delicious take on the Southern classic. Heads up! The recipe takes a lot longer than it says it does (2 hours, not 30 minutes!) and needs more salt.
Dolly Parton’s 5-Layer Casserole
“The combination of savory beef, creamy potatoes, sweet onions, earthy peppers, and acidic tomatoes struck an impressive balance of flavors that kept me coming back for bite after bite.”
Dolly Parton's Holiday Walnut Pie
Like pecan pie, but better! This is our new go-to dessert around the holidays.
Dolly Parton’s Coleslaw
The "platonic ideal of a classic, mayo-based coleslaw." The dressing is savory and sweet and has just the right amount of acidity.
Dolly Parton’s Pecan Chicken Salad
“With the first bite, I was instantly met with a feeling of nostalgia and couldn't help but finish my serving.” Needless to say, it's now our go-to lunch.
Dolly Parton’s Banana Pudding
This meringue-topped recipe is so incredibly good that it is known to convert people from team no-bake banana pudding to team baked banana pudding.
