The 7 Best Private Terminals Around the World, From London to New York City

The words “business jet” conjure up images of Champagne, personal service, and extreme luxury. But not all private airport terminals, and some of the businesses operating within them known as Fixed-Base Operators (FBO), are created equally.

Some are simple places to refuel your jet, while others encourage you to relax, put your feet up, and stay awhile. Nowadays, many operators are recasting the humble hangar as a five-star hotel lobby experience. The amenities are designed for comfort, whether that means taking a Zoom meeting in a conference room or curling up in front of a fireplace with a hot beverage.

“We’re always saying that this is not a gas station at the airport but we’re in the hospitality business,” says Roger Woolsey, CEO of Houston-based Million Air, which operates luxury private terminals across the U.S. “We’re in the first impressions business.”

The latest of these private luxury terminals will open on September 6 at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport. Similar to the first location at LAX, PS will offer massages, manicures, and chef-prepared meals, as well as private on-site TSA screenings and direct transportation to and from the tarmac to your jet. Others have personal shoppers, Rolls-Royces, and a $1 million Sony crystal LED TV for screening movies.
