6-and-9-Year-Old Sisters Raise Enough Money for 108 Thanksgiving Meals for Charlotte Rescue Mission

With the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving, it's easy to forget about the many Americans who don't have a place to go or a special meal to eat on the holiday.

Nine-year-old Alex Fischer of Charlotte, North Carolina, doesn't forget. As Charlotte's WCNC-TV originally reported, the young girl has been giving back to her community since she was six. Her cause of choice has been the Charlotte Rescue Mission which helps people with drug and/or alcohol addiction issues. For Thanksgiving each year, the non-profit hosts a turkey-and-food box drive to help those in need. Her first year of fundraising, Alex was able to surpass her goal of 10 boxes and gift the organization with 100 Thanksgiving food boxes.

So far for 2019's drive, Alex, along with the help of her seven-year-old sister, Caroline, have already raised enough money to purchase 108 frozen turkeys and boxes of food. Last weekend, their lemonade stand completely sold out as locals eagerly chipped in to the girls' fundraiser.

On The Fischer Sisters GoFundMe page, the siblings have raised $4,310 to date. If you'd like to get involved, you can also donate to Charlotte Rescue Mission directly here. Charlotte area locals can drop off donations at Charlotte Rescue Mission – Rebound at 907 W. 1st Street, Charlotte, NC 28202. Email Thanksgiving@charlotterescuemission.org for more information about what is accepted for the boxes.

Best wishes to the Fischer family and their heartwarming fundraising efforts. We're sure the recipients of your kindness will be grateful for the warm meal and your commitment to helping.
