At 67, Denise Austin Demonstrates ‘3 Easy’ Moves to ‘Firm’ and ‘Sculpt’ Arms

We adore Denise Austin for many reasons—but at the top of our list is her easy workout videos for women over 50. Recently, the fitness star shared another “simple and effective” fitness tutorial on Instagram, focused on achieving toned, “firm” arms.

“Arm exercises are always one of my most popular workouts…YESSSS…everyone wants to firm, tone, and sculpt our arms...Let’s do it together and get beautifully fit tank top arms with these 3 easy exercises!!!” Austin captioned a recent video. “Feel confident when you wave goodbye in those tank tops. You can do all of these moves without any equipment!! So simple and effective!! Let’s get this weekend started with some movement, you will feel so great and energized!!”

In the video, Austin stands on her yoga mat in leggings and a sports bra. “Here’s three easy exercises to firm your arms,” she says before demonstrating the moves.

Below, find a breakdown of the three exercises.

Arm circles

“The first one is just circles all the way around,” Austin explains while standing with her feet close together and her arms outstretched, parallel to her mat. To perform the move, Austin alternates between turning her palms upwards and downwards and swiveling her arms back and forth toward the front of the room. “Rotate your arms, stretch your arms, and rotate for one minute,” she instructs.

Tricep kickbacks

“The second exercise is for the back of those arms, so when you wave goodbye nothing will jiggle,” Austin explains of the tricep-focused move. She begins the movement with her feet shoulder-width apart, a small bend in her knees, and a slight forward lean with her chest. Next, she places her palms at her hips (facing upwards), sending her elbows towards the back of the room, and straightens her arms behind her in a straight line before returning to their bent position and repeating.

Pulldowns

Pulldowns are the third and final exercise Austin demonstrates, which she says helps “to really strengthen the entire arm and shoulders.” To begin, Austin stands with her feet close together and her arms lifted straight up toward the ceiling next to her ears with each hand in a fist. She then pulls each arm down, one at a time, by bringing her elbow toward her hip and contracting her bicep before returning it to the starting position and immediately switching arms.

Her followers enjoyed Austin’s simple and informative video. “I always love your stuff. You’re a real motivator and a true blessing to me,” one fan wrote. “Thank you for the tip ❤️❤️ I am 65 and have been a follower for years,” another commented.
