Denise Austin never ceases to amaze fans when it comes to her easy workout videos for women over 50. Now, the fitness star is back with another informative video sharing how she maintains toned legs and abs with her favorite “quick, 10-minute” at-home pilates exercises using only a yoga mat (and she looks so strong in the video!).

“Happy Saturday!!! Let’s get this weekend started off with some movement!” she captioned the Instagram reel. “I loooove Pilates, and try to incorporate it into my exercise routine once or twice a week. The exercises are amazing for your whole core and achieving that lean, hot look. Link in bio for this quick 10-minute pilates workout!”

In the video, Austin demonstrates two of the exercises in her 10-minute pilates workout video: Leg swings and an inner thigh toner.

For the first exercise, Austin begins by lying on her side, supporting her body with one arm and leg on the ground, and the other leg slightly elevated. “Make sure your abs are pulled up and in” to activate your core, she explains. She then brings her raised leg forward before stretching it back, for a “beautiful leg swing” which is “great for your thighs.”

She continues the workout while explaining each exercise. “Lift and squeeze through your buttock [and] lengthen your legs,” she instructs. “Strengthen and lengthen at the same time. Tone and trim and stretch. Really feel the toes reaching so your leg is lengthening.”

Next, she seamlessly transitions from leg swings to the next move, which also takes place on the ground. To perform the exercise, which she calls “inner thigh toners,” she extends her bottom leg straight out and bends her top leg so her foot is on the ground, forming a 90-degree angle with the floor. Next, Austin performs a slight crunching movement, meeting her arm with her straightened leg.

“Really tighten up through your inner thighs,” she says. And while these are great for targeting your inner thighs, they are also “great for the lower abdominals,” Austin explains. “Do the best you can. Breathe, lengthen, and exhale. That’s it. You’re doing great. We’re going to really feel good.”

Needless to say, fans loved the informative video. “You are incredible Denise! I follow along with your workouts since I was a teenager borrowing my mom’s yoga VHS of yours ❤️,” one fan wrote. “Great floor exercises...it seems effortless but you can definitely feel the burn!🔥🤗👍🏼,” another added.

This workout makes a great addition to her portfolio of #FitOver50 workouts—after all, pilates is not only a great way to tone your abs and legs, but is also a powerful method for improving overall strength, mobility, and balance. “Knowing how to engage your core during everyday things like doing laundry, carrying groceries, or picking up kids is going to help you long-term,” Amy Kiser Schemper, C.P.T., previously told Prevention. “You will get stronger. You’ll experience less difficulty as you age.” She also says that you’ll maintain mobility and flexibility.

We love that Austin motivates us to keep active with a variety of fun, effective workouts. We can’t wait to see what fitness routine the icon will drop next!
