Shopping for my mom is quite the task. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been so confident in something I was gifting her for her birthday, Christmas, what have you — only to be shot down with a complaint. “It’s too big,” she once said of a gorgeous designer bag. “It’s too small,” she nagged about a vintage diamond ring. “Did they have these in a different color?” she inquired about a one-of-a-kind pair of earrings. When she does like something I give her, it's a huge moment — and recently, that occasion came when I gave her a Jane Win necklace.

My mom definitely likes statement-making jewelry, so I’m actually not too surprised she couldn’t stop talking about Jane Win’s Mother of Pearl necklace after she opened it on her birthday this year. “Oh my god, I love it” she exclaimed when she saw it. (Phew.) The hefty necklace features a mother of pearl stone carved into a heart and has a beautiful claw prong on the back with a four leaf clover design. That unique design on the back is reminiscent of the brand’s signature coin pendant amulets, which is originally how the brand started.

Inspired by 1900s coin jewelry, Jane Win’s founder started the brand with a collection of eight amulets that symbolized positivity, hope, strength, and luck. Now, the line has expanded to include other pendant styles, earrings, bracelets, and rings, many that include a design element dedicated to the original coin amulets. The jewelry designs are on the larger side and have intricate details; for example, the Hope Original Pendant Coin features four seasons of flowers on the front and a “hope” inscription on the back with a moon and star design. All Jane Win jewelry is made with sterling silver and 14-karat gold plated.

The jewelry from the brand is extremely giftable for Mother’s Day, including tons of heart-shaped options. I’m eyeing this Crazy in Love ring — which comes in five different stones like malachite and tiger’s eye — to give my mom next since it matches the necklace I got her. There’s also a daintier version of the Mother of Pearl necklace available in five stone options that include an accented pink stone on the chain and is $200 off right now.

And if stone jewelry isn’t your mom’s thing, this Full Heart Pendant is a stunning choice; the palm leaf heart design is a Jane Win best-seller and can be purchased with a leather cord or 18-inch link chain.

The moral of the story? If your mom is hard to shop for, consider a piece of Jane Win jewelry for her this Mother’s Day — I can guarantee she’ll be impressed.
