In my nine years of living in New York City, I never bothered to invest in a floor-length mirror. Luckily, a few apartments had mirrored closet doors to tide me over, but now after nearly two years of living in my current apartment, I had enough of not being able to see my outfits before I left the house. I asked for a relatively affordable Walmart mirror for Christmas, and not only has it made me feel more confident about walking out the door, but it’s also made my space look more stylish. Mirrors are known for making spaces appear larger and bouncing light around to make them also seem brighter.

There’s another benefit to my mirror: It looks just like a $1,000 Pottery Barn Arched Mirror, so I feel like I got a great deal, even though it was a gift from my parents. Half of the fun of working at Apartment Therapy is finding something that looks way more expensive than it is, and this mirror is no exception.

What Is the BEAUTYPEAK 64″ x 21″ Full-Length Mirror?

This full-length mirror is reportedly shatterproof (which is so far the case with me — it arrived intact and survived the three flights of stairs). It can be leaned up against the wall, like the Pottery Barn mirror, or you can use the built-in stand at the back of the frame for some extra support. The bracket can be removed, if you don’t like the look, or want to hang the mirror on the wall vertically. To securely mount your mirror on the wall, you will need a drill to put the screws into the wall.

The Pottery Barn mirror, at 31.5 inches, is about 10.5 inches wider than the Walmart alternative. This 109-pound mirror also comes with a security cleat mount for peace of mind.

Both mirrors come in either black or brass.

Why I Love the BEAUTYPEAK Full-Length Mirror

I’m still in the process of decorating my one-bedroom, and my mirror is one of my favorite pieces in my living room right now. I think that it adds a touch of elegance and also helps establish my living room area as a space that’s very separate from my kitchen (which is not divided by any wall). Luckily, I have a lot of natural light in this space, and during the day, the light bounces off the mirror and makes the entire apartment brighter. The apartment only has windows on one wall, so this is a necessary addition of light. And initially, I didn’t think I’d like the stand the mirror comes with, but it gives me peace of mind that the mirror won’t fall. As a new mirror owner, this is a constant concern.

It normally isn’t this inexpensive — it’s currently $139 off — so I recommend adding it to your cart before the sale ends or the product goes out of stock.
