6-year-old’s morning routine goes viral—because it’s hilariously ADORABLE

What does your child’s morning routine look like? Maybe they wake up looking like grumpy cat or dragging their feet to get ready for the day. But, does your child wake up extra early to start the day on their terms?

Alissa Holder is a mom and children’s book author who recently posted about her son, Ayaan’s, adorable morning routine on social media. It didn’t take long for the post to rack up thousands of comments and go viral.

The mother of three begins her caption with: “I was packing lunches for Ayaan & Alaïa and I look over to see Ayaan just casually drinking his lemon & honey tea, and reading a new book. At first I laughed. Because…who does he think he is?

This cute little first grader can be seen sitting at a kid’s table, calming sipping his tea and flipping pages in his book. I mean, come on! Cuteness overload. The fact that his day starts with lemon and honey tea plus a new book sounds like this kid knows more about self-care than most adults.

“But then I realized that I’m glad,” she continued, “he had this moment of calm and focus for himself before he starts his day at school. I Hope your day is off to a great start.

Ayaan’s mother shared with Today that he intentionally wakes up earlier than he needs to so that he can start his day on his own terms. “Ayaan likes his alone time, and he also enjoys a calm and relaxing morning. He does not like to be rushed. So I’ll get him up early, and he’ll use the extra time to do a quiet activity.”

The mother of three also shares 3-year-old daughter, Alaïa, and a 5-month-old son, Asé, with her husband, Alpha Diop. She wakes up Ayaan a full hour before his younger siblings so that he can have his alone time.

But, that’s not all. Ayaan also has a “self-care caddy” outside his door. Yup, you read that correctly. A first grader prioritizes his self-care. His mother reports that his “essentials” are in there such as lotion, face oil and a new book. Holder also shares that he’s a friendly kid who has, “always been really kind and caring.” Ayaan plays with his siblings, is active in sports and plays the African drums. He gives new meaning to the term, “well-rounded.”
