6 Girls Tried Jeffree Star's Black "Weirdo" Lipstick and Here's What Happened

From Seventeen

Who would have thought that summer would be the hottest time to try out black lipstick? The vampy shade is more popular than ever, with brands including Kylie Cosmetics and ColourPop rolling out dark lippies. They join cult faves from M.A.C. and Jeffree Star, the latter of which is still flying off the shelves almost one year later. In fact, Jeffree's "Weirdo" is so popular, that you can only buy two at a time. So, we had to put this vlogger-fave lipstick to the test and see if it really lives up to the hype.

Ariel

"I love the formula. It's creamy and not drying at all, and the wand is amazing. It felt so easy to apply, especially for black lipstick. Unexpectedly, I was into the color. I would wear it on a night out with friends."

India

"It's out of my comfort zone. I'm much more a red lip girl, all day, everyday. However, so many people have stopped to say how good it looks on me. And it goes on nicely, and isn't drying. I would wear black lipstick again."

Carolyn

"For a girl who tends to lean towards light pink shades, black lipstick was a big stretch for me. I am in no way a makeup artist so putting on the lipstick was a nightmare. After two tries, it was still lopsided. While it was a break from my comfort zone, and it took a second to get used to, I would actually consider wearing black lipstick again. I'm into it if I'm ever feeling edgy for a night out."

Jada

"I usually just wear lip balm or pink lipstick, never dark like this one. The formula is really nice and went on in one swipe with a ton of pigment. But I didn't really feel comfortable and probably won't be wearing black lipstick anytime soon."

Noelle

"Even though I cringe at the idea of wearing black lipstick, once I tried this lipstick on, I was actually surprised by how good the color looked on me. I mean, I would never wear it on a regular basis or even for a regular day at work, but I could see myself wearing it on a night out if I was going for a really vampy look, so I would't mind having it in my lipstick arsenal for (very) occasional use. The formula was nice and it wasn't too drying. It's also so pigmented that I didn't even have to dip the wand into the tube to get more product. There was already enough product on the wand for a perfect application."

Liz

"Since there's really no lipstick I won't try, I had a feeling I would like Jeffree's 'Weirdo' shade. And I wasn't disappointed at all. The formula is really nice and pigmented, though it did take some effort putting it on evenly. I think it's a small lip problem. The applicator wand is designed for a fuller pout than mine. Still, I love it and I'm planning on rocking it all summer."
