Each year, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach puts on a dazzling show. Creatives from all around the world show off their design chops in their dedicated spaces—and when the best in the biz come together under one roof, you know there will be inspiration to be found around every corner. You won’t see any boring greige rooms inside this modern villa in West Palm Beach’s “SoSo” neighborhood. Instead, you’ll discover a sensory world full of bold colors, detailed wallcoverings, unexpected textures and patterns galore. Needless to say, as soon as we saw this glamorous show house, we started taking notes.
From a bathroom with major “under-the-sea” vibes to the return of four-poster beds, here are the biggest trends we spotted at the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach this year—and how to replicate them in your own home.
Jewel Tones
Several designers opted for jewel-toned colors in their rooms—especially shades of sapphire blue, emerald, and turquoise—but we think Nadia Watts Interior Design officially gave this trend star status. Inspired by her legendary great-great-grandfather, Louis Comfort Tiffany of Tiffany Studios, she incorporated the saturated colors found in his iconic stained glass.
From the turquoise Porter Teleo-clad walls to the sparkling green glass Currey & Company chandeliers, you feel like you’re literally stepping inside a jewel box. Whether you embrace this glamorous trend by lacquering your walls a deep emerald or opt for ruby-hued objets d’art, this color palette is endlessly versatile—and here to stay.

Statement Light Fixtures
From palm tree chandeliers to painterly sconces to sculptural pendants, statement light fixtures reigned supreme at this year’s Kips Bay Decorator Show House. We love that this trend is totally customizable to your personal aesthetic—after all, every room offered bold lighting in its own unique way.
We especially loved how Jonathan Savage used an oversized wicker woven sphere from Currey & Company in his study; according to the designer, the fixture acted as “the icing on top” of the room (we couldn’t agree more).

Ocean Motifs
We called out “under the sea” as one of our biggest spring design trends for 2024, and it seems like the designers behind the Kips Bay Show House agree. From a beautiful shell-studded bed in Rinfret Limited’s space to a bathroom by Helen Bergin Interiors featuring an Aqualille jellyfish wallcovering, ocean-inspired motifs were everywhere. In Bergin’s bathroom, a custom sculptural sink (using Cosentino’s Dekton stone and minimalist silver Kohler fixtures) rounded out the deep sea vibe.
Even if you don’t want to go full Little Mermaid with a bold aquatic wallpaper, you can still adopt this trend in your own way by adding an orchid to a giant conch shell planter, picking up a seashell-covered mirror, or displaying your prized collection of coral specimens. The world is your oyster (pun fully intended).

Wellness-Inspired Design
Now’s the time to bring a little woo-woo into your house. From crystal-inspired furniture (specifically the rose quartz-esque coffee table in Lichten Architects and Nicole Mizrahi Interiors’ “Kermit’s Retreat”) to geode-inspired wallcoverings (pictured here in OBMI’s “Golden Hour”), there was no shortage of wellness-inspired design.
Several rooms also boasted bold houseplant installations, which added to the biophilic aesthetic (we especially loved the oversized cacti in Sara Story Design’s “Shangri-La Lounge” and the mounted staghorn ferns in MELROSE's “Climbing Staghorn Ferns & Palms Passage”). They quite literally make the room look and feel like a breath of fresh air.

Dramatic Beds
Canopy beds and four-poster beds are back—and maybe better than ever? Two bedrooms in the Kips Bay Show House (Phoebe Howard’s “Bedroom” and Rinfret Limited’s “Seashell Sanctuary at Vizcaya”) both featured statement-making beds.
Phoebe Howard used transparent bed hangings (made from a Cowtan & Tout fabric) to add drama to the four-poster bed, while still keeping things feeling light. Meanwhile, Rinfret opted for linen bed hangings (fabricated by The Shade Store) on the canopy bed for decorative flair. This trend will make your bedroom feel fit for royalty.

Statement Ceilings
Ceilings are no longer the forgotten fifth wall; they’re here to make a major design declaration. Redmond Aldrich Design transformed a spacious white outdoor pavilion ceiling into a chic and cozy space using their Peony Chintz fabric. Twinkling light fixtures from Currey & Company illuminated the statement ceiling in the prettiest way and made us want to tent our exterior space ASAP.
More ceiling drama could be found in Donna Mondi Interior Design’s “Bond’s Boudoir,” where she added floor-to-ceiling draperies made with an ebony Harlequin fabric (fabricated by The Shade Store). The designer also created a suspended art installation with 22 works from Singulart and Studio27. Art on the ceiling? Absolutely genius.
