At 58, Paulina Porizkova Poses in String swimsuit Discussing ‘Lumps’ and ‘Comparison’

Paulina Porizkova is glowing in a new swimsuit photo on Instagram, showing off toned abs.
The former supermodel shared her thoughts on “shame,” “envy,” and “comparison.”
She also opened up about “lumps,” “bumps,” and “loose skin.”
Not long after revealing her makeup-free “58-year-old face” to the internet, Paulina Porizkova bared it all once again with a new swimsuit photo posted to Instagram. In the picture, she shows off her toned abs and legs while opening up about “comparison” in the caption.
In the snap, Porizkova wore a printed string swimsuit and dipped her toes into a pool while looking up, toward the sun. As with many of her stunning photos, the former supermodel also decided to take the opportunity to share a message—this time about shame and comparison.
Porizkova revealed in the caption that she had just seen an Instagram photo of a friend; “A body pic in which her body looked unbelievable,” she explained. “She’s close to my age, but has none of my bumps or lumps or loose skin.”
Just because she’s in the public eye doesn’t mean Porizkova is immune to comparison. “And my first reaction was, ‘Holy cow, she looks amazing.’ My second thought was ‘She must work really hard on staying in shape.’ And my third thought was self-congratulatory. ‘I’m not in the least bit envious!’” she wrote. “In the past, I would at first make the inevitable millisecond comparison, feel ashamed for not measuring up, and then deal with my shame and envy,” she continued. “Which would manifest in either putting the woman down (in my head—not online!) or putting myself down. When we make comparisons, we also judge. Both are programmed into us and exacerbated by society.”
Porizkova then explained that moving past comparison and judgment and toward positivity is difficult. “Like a muscle, you’ve long neglected, it’s a slow process. It’s taken me from my early 50s ‘til now to get here,” she wrote. “But after years of making the deliberate choice to look at other women in CELEBRATION of who they want to be and how they present themselves, it’s finally automatic. And guess whose day will be the nicer for it? 😁”
In the comments, fans praised Porizkova’s honesty and take. “It’s such a beautiful revelation to discover we don’t have to compete,” one commented. “This is such a beautiful image of you, and this is a heartwarming reminder about the joy in celebrating other women ❤️” another added.
Powerful messages alongside swimsuit snaps are kind of Porizkova’s thing. In fact, in one of her latest swimsuit snaps, she calls out “anti-aging,” and opens up about self-acceptance. “Combat age. Reverse aging. Rejuvenate. Anti-age. None of this is possible,” she wrote. “I do not want to fight myself every day for the rest of my life. But I do want to make the best of what I was given. And I want to shine a bright light in the dark corners of the shame that is heaped on women for daring to age,” she continued.
Porizkova even sparked a widespread #oldandugly movement after responding to a hater calling her too “old and ugly” to pose in a swimsuit.
